"The work crew arrived on time and set up to begin work in empty unit after I demo'd old windows. They made cut-outs where necessary and installed the new windows, then insulated and caulked and did the trim work inside and out. It took most of the week. My property manager scheduled with the tenants. The tenants all liked the new look and extra light and ventilation! These new windows should improve the insulating factor from the other ones. I was very happy to work with Curtis and his team. One photo shows old (left) and new (right). Second photo shows all new windows and in-progress painting of exterior."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"There was a lot of snow and it took them quite a while to get to the property. However, when I called to check up, they always answered, were always polite and sympathetic, and called me back with updated information. I would say that they took an average amount of time to get to the property, but that that amount of time was reasonable given the weather. Be sure you give your address very clearly and spell it out phonetically if you have a weird address. That will help prevent delays. I have not received a bill yet, but I was quoted $35 as a minimum. I expect that it will cost approximately $50-70 for 2000+ square feet of plow work. It took the guy 30-45 minutes. The job was very neat and he had good plowing instincts. My plow guy was Nate/Nathan."

"Sears' package of services allowed me to worry very little because they coordinated all the trades. Sears has a longstanding reputation for standing behind their products, something I had not found to be true with other contractors I had used in the past. Thecarpenter/job coordinator who did the refacing work was wonderful to work with, making minor modifiations as necessary to fit my needs.  I had not originally intended to purchase new appliances, but Sears offered me such a great discount that I added a new cooktop, double ovens (which required some cabinet modifications), and a dishwasher, which were installed by the carpenter.  He also coordinated the quartz countertop and flooring installations. All of the work Sears did was well done and professional. After the job was completed, I noticed that a door in the den that had to be cut off to accommodate the new flooring was a bit rough, and they sent the carpenter back to fix it within a week. I was somewhat concerned that I would not like the laminate used to reface the wood cabinets, but it has turned out to be very attractive, more durable than wood, and easy to clean.  No one can even find the seams in the quartz countertop or the Congoleum flooring, so I feel that their workmen are very experienced and skilled. I not only would recommend Sears to others, I would use them again for other work."

"Dan is the best.  I don't even bother to call anyone else.  His work is incredible - everyone that sees my windows or any other work he has done at my house (bathroom remodels, hardwood stairs) wants his number.  You can tell that he takes pride in his work.  My floors, doors and trim turned out beautifully.  He called me almost every day to check in, let me know how we were doing schedule wise (rain was causing some delays on lacquer drying).  I really appreciated the communication so I knew what was going on.  I totally trust him to make decisions about things that need to be done.  Nice guy, spectacular craftsman - can't wait for him to get started on my next job (and how often do you hear that about a dusty remodel??).

"Rick was easy to work with and suggested excellent quality windows. With the pandemic problem, they stayed in touch trying to get the windows from the manufacturer. The installation was quick and easy and done exceptionally well. I am very pleased with the product, the labor and the cost. I have already suggested them to others who has used them for their windows also!"

"It went very well. Cory was quick to respond to my request for an estimate. He started the snow removal immediately, worked diligently, and added a worker to finish the job in a timely manner.

The wallpaper removal and texture went well. He ran into schedule conflicts with increasing calls for snow removal. Finally the walls and ceiling were completed. The only flaw was that some paint splashes got on bedding that was not covered properly."

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Indian, AK

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
