"The project began on time and was completed on the same day. They also did a really good job of cleaning up after themselves. Very professional, great results"

"Chief Pavers did a great job on my small back patio. They came out for an estimate on Thursday, and did the job that Saturday. They were fast and efficient, and the deck looks beautiful."

"We paid $1,100 for entire job on March 30. He did a good job on removing bushes, refreshing all the mulch, and trimming. This quote included installing plastic edging, which was poorly installed. It is already popping out of the ground. He didn't trim the tall palm or plant the 10 small Pentas & said he'd return. We had to nag him for weeks to finish the job. In the photo, you can see that the plants were placed on top of the soil in the mulch. A hole was not dug for each of the plants. I had to go back, dig a hole, and plant nearly every Penta that he "planted." They were starting to die, and I couldn't figure out why until I pushed the mulch back. Also, we agreed on a monthly fee to maintain the area and haven't seen him since."

"Eveready does all my hauling for construction debris. They do a great job and are very dependable and will work with you on cost if you need them for more than a single job. They have dump trailer drop-off but also have a crew that can help you out with labor if you need help loading or with demolition, etc,. They also do garage/house cleanouts and various other chores."

"Dawayne and his folks were up to the challenge; we'd bought a home that's yard was severely neglected.  Dawayne gave us a reasonable estimate (which grew, some, as we continued to request additions).  They ripped out a bunch of overgrown stuff immediately so that we could put in a fence.  They then had to wait a while to finish, and they were super busy at the time. It was really an all-summer project with about 4-5 days, here and there, of intense activity (pulling out or putting in and tree trimming). We had some glitches and misunderstandings along the way but Dawayne kept coming back until we were satisfied; and we are.  We think it looks beautiful now.  Also, we think they were especially good at trimming the existing trees and bushes; you could hardly see the house before and we couldn't believe they were able to save them and make them look decent. They are now our regular lawn service and two different neighbors have stopped to tell us how nice everything looks.

Update 03/14:  After the initial installation, things went downhill.  (I changed my previous A ratings to more accurately reflect the total experience.)  Our sod never thrived.  Dawayne blamed the distributor, then us. He did replace large sections once at no cost. It basically died out again, in many places.  He said we watered too much, then too litle, then blamed all the weeds on the birds (doesn't everyonehave birds?).  We had mutliple unhappy conversations.   Finally we contracted with an outside service for fertilzier, pest control etc. to try to save the lawn and told Dawayne that we only wanted him to mow. He said fine.  Then I sent him the check for another month and he returned it saying that "They no longer served our area."  All in all, I found him difficult to work with.  In retrospect, I think there are better choices."

"Jeff and his crew were very professional and easy to work with. They did a nice job with all the lighting and were able to do the install quickly, which included a lifetime warranty for the lighting. I plan to use them again."

"Our small front yard needed a complete redesign. First Eric, the company owner, came by and gave me a design, with specifics, an estimate and dates. Overall, Eric told us what he was going to do and he did it in a timely fashion. Anytime he wasn't going to show up, he called us frequently and kept us updated. He is a very good communicator, which is key in any business. Though they specialize in smaller jobs, he seems to have a bank of related contractors when and if any heavy equipment type work is needed, or if he needs specialty plants brought in. The result was a beautiful front yard that draws compliments from friends and acquaintances, with beautiful, heat resistant plants that are appropriate for the setting."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Indian Rocks Beach, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
