"Gregor was on time and efficient. They finished two rooms and an entire basement in a single day. My only complaint is the seal they put down was so thin it has already mostly worn away."

"I was concerned about a musty-like smell that comes/goes in my hallway next to the bathroom and under the attic access. Was afraid I had black mold lurking in that area, so contacted HSNT. John was prompt, professional, and very thorough. He painstakingly examined my home from the basement to the attic (which has no floor!), taking moisture readings and pictures of problem areas. Turns out I have a minor mold area in the basement and one under the kitchen sink from an old leak---none of which requiring a professional mold remediator. Explained what I should do to correct the issues myself. No mold in the attic. Possible moisture issue in wall behind bathroom sink to check out. I waived air testing. John was very patient in answering my myriad of questions and explaining everything he was doing along the way. Provided a very detailed report documenting the results of his moisture testing and pictures of the areas needing attention. I heartily recommend John and his valuable knowledge."

"Dennis and Ada and their entire team at NJ Water and Mold are A+++ Professionals. We suffered a catastrophic water heater failure that resulted in significant damage to our home. Stressed, I called Dennis. He calmly walked me through the remediation and repair process and advised me that he could send his team to our home to begin work within the hour. Dennis is a man of his word! His team came to our house promptly and they worked diligently to mitigate the damages. Dennis and his team were exceptional. Dennis advised me what his team would do to remediate and repair our home, and Dennis' team did exactly what he said they would do--and they did it in a timely, courteous and highly professional manner. Additionally, Dennis worked directly with our insurance company. He promptly documented all the work performed, and prepared a comprehensive estimate of the needed repairs. We are so very grateful to Dennis and Ada and to their team! Overall, they were extremely courteous, highly professional, and they did a masterful job! If you ever suffer a water damage event, call Dennis and Ada at NJ Water and Mold. They are truly exceptional!"

"Basit came to our home and explained the process in detail. His team was at our home within the hour. They taped everything well to avoid dust and contamination. They bagged and removed all the old insulation, sanitize the attic, and rodent proof the home from outside and inside. They were very professional & easy to work with."

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Irvington, NJ

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
