We had a little snafu with the building rules; my building requires that the hallway from the elevator to the apartment door be covered with masonite.  They were not prepared for this, and providing this service cost an additional $275.  So if anyone else is doing this in manhattan, I recommend you check with your building codes and make sure everything is worked out ahead of time so that there are no surprise extra costs.
