"This company is fantastic! 1. Out of the 5 companies I was considering for insulation replacement (yes 5), their quote was the only one that was itemized and understandable. You knew each task you were paying for as well as what the workers were promising to deliver, which is extremely important when dealing with contractors. I found this out having met with 20+ over the last month. 2. They had the most reasonable price, and Rory in particular worked to volunteer his expertise on what our situation needed/did not need with an honesty that is hard to come by because it did not come off as self-serving or trying to take advantage of our lack of expertise. 3. They were reliable, on time, and very communicative every step of the way. They touched base frequently about our complicated situation, they were available for price discussions, and they were direct in communicating arrival and finishing times. I was extremely impressed. 4. The individuals at this company went above and beyond the call of duty. Rory was a pleasure to deal with; he reminds me of the neighbor you want to have because he has great advice, good contacts if you need work outside his company, and reasonable suggestions for what you can do to fix things, and to boot he was extremely available. He even answered our many calls with random questions off-work hours AND he volunteered to come out himself again outside of work hours just to help figure out the steps to fixing our problem. Debbie was affable and an organized presence on the phone. The other staff we worked with- Santiago, Rafael, Luis, and Felix- were all extremely courteous and hardworking during the projects. 5. They worked to coordinate with other contractors without me having to micromanage anyone. I had a roofing company, arborist/tree service, and vent cleaners on site. They were able to navigate their own working space and work in tandem on the roof with the roofers to replace the insulation on the cathedral portion of the house when the underdeck was ripped off, as well as add baffles appropriately. 6. They brainstormed to fix problems we were having at extremely reasonable prices. Example: The attic portion of my home was missing half the ceiling (had to be removed because of extensive mold damage) and they helped me place drywall so we could replace the insulation on the timeline we initially agreed to. It saved my husband and me a lot of money and heartache. What more could you want from a company? The biggest impression I walked away with is that this company actually cares about your situation. My husband and I were purchasing a new home in need of a lot of repairs. We have a toddler and I am third-trimester pregnant. With the move, the unpleasant relationship we had with the previous owners of our home, the strain on our finances, and the overwhelming stress of finding new problems everywhere we looked, I can only say I am extremely grateful we went with Madrona Home Services. "I hired Eastside construction To Tape and texture 2 Hallways and a master bedroom, closet and bath. The taper Tom was personable but was the Sloppiest Taper I have ever been around. I have been in the trades since 1972. i requested that Tom scrape out the corners before shooting the texture at least three times, this was done half heartedly. I mentioned to Tom he was the sloppiest taper I had ever seen and asked who was going to clean up his mess. He replied Dean usually sends a crew around, but that was between me and Dean. There was no cleanup crew supplied by Dean. there are several areas that were not sanded properly and texture was shot anyway. I only saw these areas while I was painting. I would never hire this company again. The mess Tom Made and tracked through our house was inexcusable. My wife and I covered our floors, taped off the outlets, installed zipper doors to help keep the dust down. Tom belongs on a Commercial jobsite not an occupied home. I won't make this mistake again. "DO NOT HIRE SHIREY. BEWARE. I sent detailed emails with photos of work I needed done. They came unprepared and then tried to charge me $105 an hour to run around getting supplies that I noted they needed to bring! Tech was NOT SKILLFUL (I have photos of wood he replaced around my dryer vent) NOT EFFICIENT (working at a snail's pace, up and down stairs many times as had "forgotten" many things in his truck (or didn't know what he needed for the job), wandering around looking in my garage in a space that wasn't related to his work at my home) NOT SAFE (didn't bring the taller ladder I had requested so stood on TOP of my 8' ladder. Said "It's not a problem. I do it all the time.") NO INTEGRITY. Tech closed up my crawl space door and said he was "done down there." I know he wasn't expecting a lady to go check the work in the crawl space and when I did, I found out what he had "done down there" - a HACK JOB on trying to replace the rotted dryer vent wood AND he left all the trash from the duct tape, tar paper, rotted wood scraps, etc. Outside dryer vent cap wasn't even screwed into wood. When I asked him, he said he left it like that so I could prime and paint the wood. I asked him to screw it in so I knew it was all good and I would unscrew it when ready to paint. He couldn't screw it in as he cut the hole too big, so there was no wood in which to screw it! He used huge nails (not wood screws) and split/cracked/broke the new wood frame that was cut too big. Horrible carpentry. And he was going to leave it like that had I not asked him about it! There was also over a 1/2" gap on the top or bottom, depending on how you moved the vent. He said he would put some caulk in the gap. I said no, to leave it. That is wasn't done correctly and I wanted it done properly. Not a shoddy job "jury rigged" and filled with caulk. I refused to pay and called Jon the owner and told him why. I requested Jon to come to my home to see the work his Tech did. Jon made an appointment to come out, then called the next day to cancel. He knows he can't stand behind his Tech's work, because he knows it's unprofessional and very bad. He said he wouldn't charge us for the visit and we would not do business again. We were repeat customers but will NEVER hire Shirey again. Shady business owner who does not stand behind his companies work. DO NOT hire them or pay them a dime. A picture is worth a thousand words. I have a bunch but nowhere to post on this review site. I hope others read the MANY other poor reviews of SHIREY and see the truth."
