"After getting 2 quotes, we hired Jason for a 2 part job; the first was to replace a leaky sprinkler valve manafold and set of valves and the second was to clean up areas of the yard and install curbing. Since this was in May, we realized this was late in the season and many of the landscapers would be booked out for at least a month, but Jason was able to get a foreman out to the house to redo the sprinler system with in a week, which is part of the reason we decided to go forward with a contract with him. The foreman showed up in the middle of may and did a really good job on the sprinkler system. We have had no problems with it during this summer. Although we knew that the rest of the landscaping was not going to be able to start until June, we were prepared to wait. We made it clear again that we were wanting to go forward with the rest of the work as soon as it could be fit into his schedule. We received a message that we had been put into the schedule but it would be a ways out (with no definative date). We asked that he let us know when that would be (that was the beginning of June when we should have already been added to his schedule in the middle of May). After hearing nothing from Jason for over a month, I texted again in the middle of August to find out when the work could expected to be done, and received a message back asking who I was since he didn't save my number in his phone. After explaining who I was and the work that needed to be done, he said that it looked like it would be scheduled around Sept 10. It is now the end of September, and that was the last I have heard from Jason. So, the work that Jason's crew did for us was professional and what was needed. However, we have now spent an entire summer waiting for a landscaper that didn't show up. Had Jason been up front and stated that he couldn't fit us in, if that is the case, then we could have found a different contractor to do the work. However, the complete ghosting of us by Jason left us in the dark for the majority of the summer and the work has still yet to be completed."

"Horrible. Hardin Rehab Homes professes to "not charge any mark-up on materials", they say what they pay is what you pay. However, they grossly over-order the materials and then refuse to return the refund - this created a 53% mark-up on materials for our job. Also, a major component of the project was left out without any discussion or ok by us - we were charged for the material and the labor and when it was omitted, another return of our money was refused. The contract stated they will use knowledgeable and capable workers, but they used 2 teenagers that knew nothing about what they were doing. Steve Hardin (owner) was only on site about half the time yet professed to be there and doing most of the work. No clean-up was done throughout project and the project was never completed by Hardin Rehab Homes, we brought in another contractor to finish. Hardin Rehab Homes refused 5 requests for a meeting to finalize things and talk about our "issues" with the project and the money. Technically job abandonment. We finally got Hardin Rehab Homes to attend mediation over the issues in which an agreement was made (and signed), however, they "decided" they didn't want to pay, and didn't ... CAN NOT recommend Hardin Rehab Homes for any kind of work !!! We've been trying to get our money back for over 6 months now. RESPONSE TO SERVICE PROVIDER'S RESPONSE: 12/18/2020: I am writing a 2nd review as my first received a response that is totally incorrect by the business. We filed with small claims court and went to mediation; where Hardin Rehab Homes AGREED they owed us for the portion of the job contracted and charged for but not done - materials and labor. An agreement was reached, a legal document was signed, but the business told the BBB they, "decided they didn't want to pay it". This is not good business practice. A 53% markup on materials is also NOT good business practice. In the job we contracted we experienced fraud, scamming, and dealt with a contract not adhered to by the company that provided it. I stand by my review on this site and can prove through Documentation that everything I have said is correct. I cannot recommend this company for any work of any kind."

"The company’s lack of integrity led to a Bad experience. Highly recommend another company. In August of 2018, we signed a contract that stated “1 full years worth of services.” Halfway through that year Epic Lawn disregarded the contract we signed and entered us into a new contract without our permission or signature. We had no idea that the original contract was over and that we were entered into a different 6 month contract. We were then threatened by Epic Lawn to have our bill sent over to a collection agency for a bill/contract we had no idea about. When I called the company to discuss, the representative apologized and agreed that they made a mistake but the manager did not want to discuss the issue. I asked the manager to call me back 7 times in 4 weeks and received no contact what so ever. This is the first negative review I have ever posted. Find another company."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Kennewick, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
