"

It was an obvious problem with a simple solution. I explained to Marc what the situation was and he quoted an approximate cost.  When the tech came, he came up with a slightly higher number, but not enough to be concerned about.  He completed the job in a timely manner, was neat about enlarging the hole that I started in my wall and did not leave a mess on my garage floor.  The tech also gave me a rough estimate for some more work I want to do in the future.  Due diligence will be done, but all things being equal or close enough, I will hire MI Electric in the future.

I gave a B grade for responsiveness because I had to follow up with Marc after not hearing from him when we agreed would be a good time.  Marc answered my call and got a tech to me in less than an hour and the job was completed approx. 24 hrs. after our first contact.  Great recovery!

"Project went off without a hitch.  Doug the owner was quick and responsive from the time I contacted him for an estimate until the time the project was completed.  I was impressed with the professionalism, quality of work and knowledge Doug and his crew showed to make sure the job was done right.  They kept their work area clean while on site and paid great detail to match the motoar since we have a older home from the early 1900s.They were very friendly and outgoing. I felt secure with my choice of Courtney Masonry and highly recommend them for this type of work.

"Before removing or cleaning anything we would set up a 3200 cfm air scrubber on the outside of the building tied into one of
the foundation vents to create a negative pressure in the crawl space. This will keep dust, mold and odors from traveling
upstairs and harming tenants. Next all the crawl space vents will be sealed using foam board and expanding foam. All visible
floor penetrations such as holes where wires and pipes extend through the sub floor will also be sealed. Once everything is
sealed and a negative pressure has been created we will begin the project. The project would start with a deep cleaning of the
crawl space area. All debris would be removed including old vapor barrier, trash, large rocks, old pipes, etc.
All insulation will be removed. It will be bagged and hauled away all in same day.
$645.00
Mold will be cleaned from the wooden surfaces in the worst affected area by using the swipe method. Using a shop towel
(heavy duty paper towel) all wood surfaces will be swiped, the towel will be folded then swiped again untill all mold particles are
removed, never rubed into the surface. The cleaning solution ''Advanced Cleaning Solution'' made by Anabec. After thoroughly
cleaning the affected wood surfaces we will apply ''mold control''. Concrobium Mold Control effectively eliminates and prevents
mold with no bleach, ammonia or VOCs. Concrobium works as it dries by crushing the mold spores at the roots and leaving
behind an invisible antimicrobial barrier to prevent future mold growth. This will be applied by use of a fogger. The fogger
guarantees every square inch is covered.
$535.00
Install new r-19 insulation. Use insulation brackets to hold insulation tight to the subfloor. All subfloor area will be covered.
$1,125.00
Install new 6 mil reinforced white vapor barrier covering 100 % of the soil. All seams will be taped with heavy duty poly tape.
The vapor barrier will extend 12-14'' up the foundation walls and attached with mechanical fastners. Provide a remote
hygrometer. Using this you can monitor the conditions in the crawlspace without having to go down there.
$975.00
Subtotal $3,280.00
Discount $300.00
Total $2,980.00

"We were impressed with Sandro's presentation and high standards of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. He stood out among all those we interviewed. We researched this process and his company thoroughly, even visiting at least five homes he had worked on and speaking the owners, as well as calling a number of others. Everyone was exceptionally satisfied. Sandro allowed us to split the front and back of the house in order to make it more affordable to us, the back will be done in late Spring. The only problem was that they did not show up on the day they said they would. We had a deadline of that Friday for a corporate event at our home which they had ensured they would meet. The next day it was a very late start. After explaining the situation again, I found that Sandro and his foreman Ishmael were willing to do whatever it took to meet the deadline they committed to and make us happy. This negative turned into the greatest positive to display their work standards. They worked so hard, carefully and cleanly, even making more work for themselves by putting all refuse and siding debris into the backyard so the house would look as good as possible for the event. They worked as if it was their own corporate event. We had rain that week which meant their time was constrained even further, to their disappointment. I can't praise them enough for how hard they worked to make up for lost time and not at the expense of quality. They had a painter come out and cover the non-vinyl areas around the door, painted the front door for nothing and did numerous small touches to make it all look fabulous. The job was not finished until the following week, but priority was given to the things that would be noticed by our guests. It ended up looking clean and complete for the event. Sandro saw things on the first walk through that we would not have known were less than perfect. All walk through items were corrected. One spot on our gutter remains compressed a little bit by the ladder and the yard was a muddy mess afterwards due to the rain, but that was a result of how hard they were working in less than ideal weather conditions. The house looks great, the match in color between remaining Masonite and the new vinyl siding is undetectable, for a perfect blend. Furthermore, they worked quietly and respectfully, with no inappropriate demeanor, language or behavior. Even as we were quite concerned at the beginning, they reacted calmly and made amends for the indifference of missing the first day (due to one person's attitude, not the company) several times over. We've had our share of lousy, incompetent and dishonest contractors. Sandro is the guy who makes you wish every contractor and team of workers was like him. Feel free to come take a look at our home and ask us more. We hope Sandro's company thrives."

FAQs for shelter or outbuilding building service projects in Kings Mountain, NC

A bomb shelter is an abode built to withstand disaster. Bomb shelters may refer to a space or bunker that can protect inhabitants through a hypothetical nuclear attack, apocalypse, or any other massive crisis. People usually build bomb shelters underground and stock them to live there a few days to a month at a time. Doomsday bunkers accommodate long-term living rather than just through a short crisis.

Builders construct bomb shelters with reinforced steel, box culvert, concrete, or other durable materials (but many professionals do not recommend shipping containers, as they’re not designed to live underground. If building underground, you’ll first have to excavate land before building the actual structure. You’ll have to implement air and water filtration systems, septic systems, and power supply.

It takes a lot of experience to safely and legally construct a bomb shelter, not to mention make sure it’s fit to live in for extended periods of time. It’s best to talk to a residential structural engineer near you for proper guidance.

The current standard filtration systems require filtering both air and water. For air, you’ll want an NBC filter system, which both domestic and international producers make. NBC stands for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical, which filters out all three. If you’re only building your shelter for natural disasters, chemical attacks, and biological attacks, you may opt for the less expensive HEPA filter system.

Water filtration requires the same level of care. You’ll likely want to have a large water storage capacity to survive short-term disasters. For long-term living, you’ll want to have a water filtration system.

Rising S bunker prices depend on the size, ranging anywhere from $20,000 to $9 million. Their least expensive model is 96 square feet while their most expensive model has a gym, swimming pool, hot tub, and bowling alley.

  • Mini: $45,500

  • Standard Bomb Shelter: $67,500–$109,500

  • Silver Leaf: $140,000–$182,500

  • Admiral: $180,000–$500,000

  • Xtreme: $450,000–$780,000

  • Xtreme Bunker Complex: $840,000–$1,830,000

  • Luxury Series: $3,800,000–$9,600,000

You almost always need a permit to build a bunker on land with any type of public utilities running through it. You’ll want to check with your local building code enforcement agency to see if this is the case for your area.

Because you’re building a structural component that often requires electricity, water, and sewage services, you’ll need to apply for permits to attach these utilities to your new property. However, off-grid-only units in rural areas may not need all or any of the permitting you’d normally find in more urban settings.

To survive a nuclear blast, you’ll need to have your bunker at least three feet underground. However, it’s usually advisable to put it further underground. To survive a close strike, you’ll want to have the bunker at least 10 feet down and with five-foot thick reinforced concrete. However, knowing exactly how deep to build depends on the size of the blast you’re trying to avoid. Most bunkers don’t need to be more than 5 feet below the ground.
