"Jess helped us out with the huge job of replacing the entire sewer main pipe from under our house to the sidewalk given that our old cast iron pipes were corroded and kept getting blocked by roots. This was a 3 day job involving a multiple person team. We went with Jess given that his estimate seemed fair and beat out other competitors. The work ended up being more labor intensive than anticipated, as digging to the city sewer line, which should have taken hours, ended up taking a day and a half due to unseen gnarled roots and cement in the soil. Despite this, Jess and his team worked diligently, showed up when they said they would, and finished on time. They were courteous, professional, and very hard working. "Had leak overnight under BR sink and Chandler was 1st responder. Came out very quickly to repair/repair. Upon checking on leak evidence under house, found evidence of sewage &; water leakage/pipe corrosion &; we scheduled that repair for next day (different men). Job completed. Told owner that I want invoice detailing findings and work done, but all I received was e-receipts of totals I payed, ($220/$2500/$6000). He said he would send me either via email or hard copy by mail. I need for my house files. I am still waiting...but haven't contacted Ishmael Chandler since the 5/22-23/2023 job. Comment on personnel: Victor - great worker (fixed leakage). Mario and ? - Mario physically very dirty at 9a.m.) but very nice. Other man-fine. Both men very hard workers! Mario left quite a mess behind in my bathroom for me to clean up (toilet area from seal replacement)."

We had a sewer back up and knew that we had major problems with the sewer lines and they would need to be replaced, a big messy job required excavation under the house and I was worried I would lose my whole garden. "Can not imagine a better response, starting with my call for assistance, response time and how the technician, Tad methodically diagnosed the problem. We have an obscure kitchen fixture that required service in Feb 2019. Under warranty the problem was easily diagnosed by me, a problem possibly caused by me and a replacement part sent and installed by Albert Nahman team. Problem: I broke the faucet cartridge. Current Problem: restricted hot water flow in this kitchen sink only. Turns out the new cartridge part is now malfunctioning. I called and Tad arrived taking a step by step approach ruling out possible causes: a clog here or there, build up of sediment, or blockage in the lines or cartridge. The company that sells the product got on the phone with Tad and they collaborated on the problem and the tech person gave Tad one more thing to try. After the collaboration it is agreed, problem persisted and therefore that new cartridge part is now malfunctioning and will be shipped free of charge in two days. Thanks to all, who made this possible and I trust we will have Tad here again soon to finalize this fix. BTW, cost of service was less than expected given going rates for such a call lasting in excess of one hour. Another comment, spending time with Tad during the repair was a pleasure to have him explain, collaborate, listen and just chat. Questions on who to call next time, no question who I will call next time. I have read criticism of costs: In the Berkeley area "How much does it cost to hire a plumber? Some plumbers have a minimum fee for a service call. They might charge anywhere from $175-250 to come out and give you a consultation. Plumbers may give you a general service rate of $128-148 per hour when there are a lot of unknowns about a project and they aren't sure how long it will take. Some charge a flat rate for their plumbing services. For example, you may get charged $175 for a sink or drain cleaning, while toilet installation costs $500." Today costs are upfront, same as charges in Feb, $69 to arrive and assess the problem. Here in excess of one hour for $129 minus $25 coupon, total charge $173. I am ok and I expected these costs. If I was in Philly, where I grew up, I could call an uncle or cousin and get a better rate, a family rate. This is going rate for our area."

"Had a cracked undermount bathroom sink that needed replacement, which isn't really something either contractors or plumbers typically deal with. Luckily (and surprisingly) Mike Counsil Plumbing listed this service on their website, and they confirmed this over the phone. Called on a Mon. morning...very polite and helpful, scheduled earliest available appt. Wed. morning. Arrived within stated appt. window, and provided work estimate; separate pro came shortly thereafter to start actual work. Proved to be a difficult job to carefully remove old sink without damaging granite or wood countertops, but the pro did a great job. Although we furnished the replacement sink, the pro had to take a trip to the local hardware store to get additional undersink mounts - something we didn't anticipate. Once installed, it became clear that the new sink basin drain was closer to the back wall; so, to salvage the existing pipe, he took an additional trip to the hardware store to get an uncommon short pipe adapter, which he didn't stock on his van. Still ended up having to cut the pipe stub down to fit the drain and P-trap, but we appreciated the willingness to solve the problem - solve all of the problems that popped up, as everyones setup is slightly different. So, the pro ended taking several hours to get it all done, and the labor charge as you might imagine was costly...but fair. But the end result was a new, leak-free bathroom sink, as if nothing had ever happened. And, as a busy person who values their time, it was well worth it. I never noticed their green vans around town before, but I do now - Mike Counsil Plumbing services are clearly in demand, and it's obvious why."
