Customers say: Quick response

"They installed gutters on our horse barn. They were mindful of the horses' safety as we brainstormed ideas for the downspout that led into the horse paddock. Super easy to work with from the estimate to the install. Everyone I encountered was very kind and professional. Their pricing was also very competitive. Finally,"

"They came in a timely manner, were courteous, did great work, fixing a leak in a sprinkler pipe, where the location of the leak was not clear. Very reasonably priced. Came back for a follow up (not directly related to the original work), also very timely. They were recommended by Angi. I'm in Longmont. MSH will definitely be my first stop for the next time I need a Landscaper."

Small jobs welcome

"Recently, I had to have my steep 1/3 mile dirt driveway repaired from water damage. Eric and his crew came out and went over and above in repairing and getting my road back to a drivable condition. They even installed rails in the road to help with drainage in heavy rains and it did the trick! I would definitely recommend Eric and his crew and give the company a 5â ï¸ + rating!!"

"I would highly recommend Personal Touch Tile without reservation. Scott came in and corrected a very poorly installed shower job/bathroom remodel job of a previous contractor. He completely gutted what had just been installed, took away all the debris, re-built the shower floor and walls so they are waterproof and will drain properly, re-tiled the entire shower and floor to perfection. He was very knowledgeable and helpful to consult regarding the kind and quality of tile to use for the redo, as well as confirming that all the plumbing was good to go. He also provided quality contacts for other repair work we needed from the botched remodel. We are thankful to have found him and count him as a friend."

"We are very, very pleased with the work Angel and his crew did on our place. They built a beautiful retaining wall, with steps coming down through it, installed a drip system, and spread the huge amount of rock and gravel that we chose to use. Angel is is really great to work with. He helped me to decide what was best for our situation, but was also very flexible when I wanted to change things. I highly recommend him!"

"My wife & I had just moved into our newly built home and quickly began work on our landscaping. We completed the initial landscaping around the perimeter of the house and needed to grade and level the outer lot. I conducted an in-depth research into available options (renting/buying the equipment and doing it myself, getting bids from conventional landscaping vendors, etc). I was surfing Craigslist one day and came across two vendors that offered excavating services. Over the phone, both vendors seemed to be able to accomplish my task so I asked them both for estimates. The first vendor selected a date to come view the property in order to give his estimate (which I expected). The agreed upon visit date came and gone and he never showed. No phone call. No email. Nothing to explain his ‘no-show’ behavior. The second vendor, Darrell of Performance Excavating & Trucking, talked with me at length about my lot (dimensions, current grade, obstacles (trees, drop-offs, hills, etc.)) and gave me an estimate over the phone. His process includes running a piece of equipment called a ‘ripper’ which breaks up the ground like a disc, then he goes over the ground with a ‘box plane’ and then a harrow to smooth out dirt. Darrell initially told me “once I’m done, you’ll like it” and his words were true. We love the job he did on the lot. The lot is level, most of the dirt clods were broken up, and the ground was smooth. My backyard looks better than most ball diamonds! The only thing I would advise you on is get him to come out to your project, look it over and then give his estimate. The actual amount of time he needed to complete the project was significantly higher than his estimate. Darrell was very responsive, his prices were fairly competitive, and the end results are amazing. I would highly recommend him and would use him again."

"The cutout for the new Range needed to be 3/4” larger than the old Range. The Guys put down blankets on the floor and over the cabinets to minimize the duty as the granite was being cut. The cutout was perfect when they finished and the cleanup was great."

"LC Hardscapes did a great job working with us to design a backyard experience. The project included an outdoor kitchen, shelter, patios, and fire pit. It all came out great."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in La Salle, CO

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
