"Letâ s talk customer service and value. One recent morning, I stepped out in 20+ degree morning to run errands and found the garage door would not budge. Pulling harder and harder, until (at my age) I began anticipating a vital organ or two suddenly flopping on the ground at my feet. Not to be deterred and knowing my physics, (Archimedes at work) I went to the shed, grabbed a pickaxe with a flat side ideal to slip under the door and pry up with the handle. With 2X4 wood scraps and milk crate I pried it enough to insert a small stack of wood, placed the prying apparatus on another small stack and began building up great and greater height until I could slide the milk crate beneath, achieving enough space to lay on my back and shimmy under the door. Flipping the light switch and glancing up, the evidence is immediate. A broken spring. A quick google of these doors from the 1950s informed the weight to be approximately 200 to 300 pounds. Whereas I normally make any basic repairs on my own, it becomes obvious there is nothing more to be accomplished on my own. Time to phone landlord. Our conversation was brief as I layout the estimate cost of a basic repair. His response it not consistent with most property owners. Knowing the age of the door and the foreseeable problems yet to come, he preferred I locate a company to replace the door. I began my queries looking for a company in the near vicinity. While several appeared in my search engine, none seemed to man their phones, but requested one leave a message for follow-up by the company. With a lifetime background in customer service, I though this at least amateurish, though. Calling Mountain View Doors, I spoke the Aaron who dispatched Dylan and he arrived within an hour, opened the door, provided a firm price, (no estimates) and said he could install it the next morning. After reminding him the high the following day was not to exceed some 12 degrees and it was forecast snow, he said â Iâ m from Nebraska, thatâ s a nice day to work outsideâ . I made a quick call to the landlord, and he was pleased with the price and schedule and once I backed my vehicle outside, he closed the door for security. The next morning Dylan arrived new door atop the truck, and he went to work. Studiously he removed the door disassembled the old framework began installing the new door rails, door, motor, lighting, etc. Later in the morning another tech, Bram appeared who assisted Dylan in the completion of the job. The quality is outstanding, the people professional, pleasant and customer service oriented. If you garage door needs repairs or replacement, these are your people. And, as a potential customer, you should note, they saved my landlord over $1000.00. Thatâ s not insignificant!"

"Cabell gave me a summary of 2 very good garage door openers. That made it easy to decide which is the best for me. Great guy and very knowledgeable, very particular and neat in his work. He also helped resolve another problem I have on another older door opener. I also got a veteran discount."

"The owner of this business replaced the opener of the garage door at my house. He explained every detail as to why a new motor or lift was needed. He not only replaced it for me but checked everything else on the door and tracks to ensure that the garage door was opening and closing smoothly. I know have an updated opener, key pad, and it has a camera on it with an app. I am now able to open or Close my garage door remotely and can check a camera to make sure the door is closed even when I am not home. The work was done professionally and the price was more than competitive. Use Speck if you want the job done right at a fair price and you will not be disappointed."

"MGM responded immediately and was able to replace the door the very next day. I needed fast service because I could not leave my car in the open due to previous catalytic converter thefts. Levi arrived, removed the broken door (a one car garage), installed the new one and cleaned up all in about two hours."

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Lakewood, CO

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
