"We hired Grand Aquatics Pools and Spas to install our pool. We received several other bids/quotes and his was comparable in pricing. We felt more secure going with him as he is on site and does a lot of the work himself. He gave us names and numbers of others in the area that had used his company. They were all happy to allow us in their yard to see the pools he had built and discuss his work ethic. Omar the owner is typically good about responding to calls, emails and text messages. Initially we had a delay getting the proper permits to start work but once we got the permits he was off and running. He knew my wife worked nights and it would be impossible for her to sleep during the day with all the work happening. So while she was off work for surgery he worked diligently to get things finished before she had to return to work. He and his staff were always there when they said they would be and if not they let you know why and when they would return. We never ran into a situation, like many others do, where the contractor leaves for days or weeks at a time. Now that is not to say there were not some hiccups along the way but they were always resolved and in a timely manner. He and his staff were even willing to alter or change things with the build out and patio as we asked. Never once did they balk or say NO we have to go according to the plans. They even came back and added an area to our patio after the fact. There were 2 occasions where we were not happy, unfortunately one has yet to be resolved, although I know since finishing our pool he has become even busier than he normally is. One instance was regarding the heater/chiller. We were to get a chiller included in the price of the pool. Which in Florida is a big deal, most likely we would use that more than the heater. We were not told that the chillers had been recalled by the factory until everything was done. Had we known this prior to the installation of the heater we might have tried to explore other options for cooling the pool in the summer months. He did state that since there was no chiller he upgraded our heater for us. No real way for us to know that, though. The 2nd item involves the pavers and pooling of water in our cover patio area. When laying the pavers for the patio they have to be laid in a way so that the water does not run onto the neighbor’s property, which we know at times can be a challenge. Since being laid during big rain storms we now find an area under or patio where the water pools. We have asked for this to be resolved. Omar was even there one day and saw the problem we were having. He seems to feel the problem stems from the rain barrel we have on the side of our home. The rain barrel has been there 10 plus years and we have never had this problem. His solution was to dig up concrete and pavers and install a big PVC pipe out to the seawall. We did not care for that idea. We asked for another Deco drain to be put in like we have on the opposite side, perhaps just larger to accommodate for the amount of water flowing from that side. Since, we have decided to get rid of the rain barrel and try to tie the gutter into another gutter to redirect the water. All in all we are very pleased with our new pool and backyard. We spend more time out there than we have in the 22 years here. We have referred A LOT of customers to him and I know personally at least 4-5 people have contacted him for quotes."

FAQs for swimming pool in ground build or installation projects in Largo, FL

Installing a lap pool at home offers you the convenience of exercising whenever you like without needing to travel to a gym. It's a great way to stay fit while saving time and money. Plus, lap pools take up less space than traditional pools, use less water and energy, and typically cost less to install and maintain. It's an excellent investment if you value health and convenience.

To install a lap pool in your backyard, you'll need to consider the type of pool you want. For a traditional 40-by-8-foot lap pool, plan for at least 50-by-10 feet to allow room for decking. If you're considering an endless pool, you'll only need about 15-by-8 feet. Don't forget to account for other outdoor features you might have or want, like a swing set, shed, or garden. Planning your space carefully ensures you get the most enjoyment from your backyard.

A 40-foot lap pool is a great size for most homeowners. It provides enough length for a good workout while fitting comfortably in many backyards. Of course, the ideal size for your lap pool depends on your available space and budget. Consider talking with a professional pool builder to determine the best size and design for your needs.

Lap pools can be a worthwhile investment if you plan to use them regularly for exercise. If you enjoy swimming laps but prefer the convenience of staying at home, a lap pool might be perfect for you.

Keep in mind that lap pools are longer than average pools, typically around 40 feet, so you'll need adequate space in your backyard. While adding a lap pool can increase your home's value by about 7%, factors like the materials used and maintenance can affect the ROI. Also, potential buyers with young children or those wanting a traditional pool might not find a lap pool as appealing.

Fall is the best time to buy a lap pool. During this season, pool installation companies often offer special deals and savings to fill their schedules as business slows down. By purchasing your lap pool in the fall, you can take advantage of lower costs and ensure quality installation before the next swimming season.

To maintain your lap pool, regularly check the water level and add or drain water as needed. Test and balance the chemical levels to keep the water safe and clean. Inspect the tiles and surfaces for any damage, and promptly remove debris with a skimmer. Regularly vacuum the pool and clean the filter to ensure everything runs smoothly and your water stays crystal clear.
