"Originally called Pronto to relocate the water line that ran from the meter to the house. The original line ran over the top of the access hatch to our septic tank, and needed to be relocated to allow access to the septic tank. Called Pronto in the late afternoon. They scheduled appointment to arrive the following morning. The 2 men arrived at the scheduled time, and despite the weather being very hot, and the ground extremely hard and rocky, they completed the task quickly. We then asked them to look at a slow flushing toilet, wich they did. And they snaked the line from the toilet, and advised that a new toilet would be best. They suggested we purchase the toilet ourselves, and then call them if we wanted help installing it. For the original call, we were only charged for 2 hours labor, and the minimal cost of the water line parts. <br /> We purchased a toilet from Lowes, and although I thought I could install it myself, I asked Pronto to <br /> do the job. They arrived the same day I called. The plumber was very professional. and when he tried to install it, discovered that the sewer pipe was installed with a 10 inch rough-in instead of the standard 12 inch. The plumber offered to re-install the old toilet, but we asked him to leave it open while we searched for a 10 inch toilet. We were and quot;luckyand quot; to find a 10 inch in El Paso. Nobody in Las Cruces carries 10 inch rough-in toilets. They would all have to be a special order with a 2 week wait time. After purchasing the 10 inch in El Paso, we called Pronto to ask them to finish the install. Again, they arrived at the time promised, and quickly completed the install. Despite having to make 2 trips out to our house (we live in the county, outside of town), they only charged for the basic install of the toilet. We were very pleased. <br /> Since we were very happy with the performance of the new, low water use toilet, and we had not yet returned the 12 inch toilet we had originally purchased, we decided to replace the toilet in our other bathroom. This turned out to be a more challenging job because once the old toilet was removed, we discovered that the toilet flange was rusted and needed replacing. Since it was a PVC pipe in a concrete slab, the job required chipping out part of the slab to replace the pipe and flange. Again, it took 2 trips to complete the job. The plumbers were efficient, friendly, and apologetic about the time it took, and again, we were surprised at how low the bill was, as they only charged for 1 service call. <br /> All in all, we were very pleased with the service from Pronto. They arrive when they say they will, keep you informed of the progress, and are very reasonably priced. We highly recommend them. <br /> <br />"

"Called Daryl in early morning to tell him my gas heater was not working. Found him on Angie's List. . He came out within the hour and discovered a minor problem -- door not shut properly when filter was changed. He could have told me I needed a new furnace which was possible because it is 25 years old and I was prepared to replace. I do plan to replace it and will give Daryl priority when I do. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Las Cruces, NM

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
