"Went well as could be expected. Original builder poured it a little thicker than normal, but Martens dug right in and got it removed, then compacted and poured the following day. Did it exactly as bid. Will probably use them again when we are ready to do the driveway!"

"Shawn Hiatt did a very good job on my landscaping project which included clearing out of old flower beds; removing rocks; diverting gutters; trimming trees; adding soil, mulch & compost; locating sprinkler heads; planting bushes; & re-seeding both front & back lawns. Shawn is hard-working, efficient, & personable; he also completed my work within a tight time frame. I plan to hire him again in the future."

"decided to go with drystone masonry and construction after talking to several other firms and not being impressed at all. I saw drystone great reviews and decided to ask them to quote for the job. They did exactly what Elliot, one of the owners who had come out to give me the quote, told me would be done plus more. The work Filip, Darren and A-Jay did to get my basement back from flood zone to a space I can enjoy was exceptional. I was thrilled once I saw that everything was done and done right. I would recommend them whole-heartedly to any family or friend needing quality work done."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Lawrence, KS

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
