"Very happy with the work that was done -- driveway, sidewalks, and new front stoop. They were very helpful and accommodating as we made adjustments to our original design. Most other companies were scheduling weeks or months out, but Apex got back to me right away and finished the job quickly and on time as promised. Concrete is expensive, so be prepared to pay a lot, but I would highly recommend them and would definitely hire them again."

"Steve did a wonderful job on my bathroom remodel. He listened to my ideas and implemented them perfectly. I love my new bathroom, with the new crown molding and wainscoting. He was timely and got the job done quickly and efficiently and worked within my budget! He has done other work for me in the past including a whole house remodel, and has always been professional, quick, efficient and affordable!"

"Banks Remodeling just completed a major remodel of our master bathroom in a hundred-year-old house, which included tearing everything down to the studs, expanding the size of the space by several feet, building a new walk-in shower, installing tile throughout the shower and around the room as wainscoting, and repairing a ceiling below that had suffered water damage from the old shower. Giving up a good portion of your home to construction for over a month is not easy, but from start to finish, Banks Remodeling provided exceptional service. Josh and Meghan were always easy to reach and quick to respond to our questions, and a detailed schedule throughout the project was incredibly helpful. Every one of the workers, including the demo crew, framers, drywall installers, plumbers, electricians, painters, and tilers, were respectful, dedicated to the job, and cleaned up after each phase of the project. And special mention needs to go to Tate and Gerry, the two who spent the most time on the project, for their artistry with tile and careful attention to detail. We are thrilled with the outcome of the project and will definitely call on Banks Remodeling in the future for remodeling projects."

"Cornerstone Builders and Developers were initial recommended by Reading Plumbing to do the specialized work in the bathroom.  It was necessary to remove the shelf brace to allow the plumber to get to the underside of the faucet.  The shelf brace was an integral part of the front of the vanity.  So the work had to be done carefully so that when put back it would look like the other shelf braces in the vanity.  They did a good job and even painted it so you can not even tell it had been removed.  <br /> While having that work done, I had them put up some additional kitchen crown moulding which had not been done when the house was built.  It was for a couple of small areas.  The work was complicated by trying to get it to match up completely with the already installed pieces.  The carpenter did a great quality job and spent extra time to make sure it was done right.  He also painted the pieces to assure they match all the rest of the cabinets and moulding. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Le Roy, IL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
