"I had hired Precision Stairs to remove and replace a very heavy folded step ladder that pulls down and unfolds into our attic in the garage. This is where the HVAC and Water Heater resides. All these years I have been able to pull down and unfold. Since it's very heavy I can see due to the height and weight that my wife would not be able to do this when we both get older. So I hired them to see what we can do to replace this ladder with something easier to manage. The owner (Manuel) came to the house to discuss and bid and he came up with the idea to have a folder ladder to the ceiling attic, but made of aluminum which is so much lighter. I could tell the honesty and reliability that he possessed to accept his bid/work. Due to the backorder of the item, they had kept me informed constantly so I knew what was going on. So great communication from the company, When the installer (John) finally came for the replacement, we immediately determined that the width and the height of the ladder would not work out for us, which he totally understood. After apologizing profusely the installer went out of his way to drive and pick up the correct product that would work for us, brought it back, SAME DAY mind you, and replaced the attic ladder stair along with rebuilding the ceiling enclosure that would work with this new much lighter aluminum step ladder. Unbelievable reliability, efficiency and dedication from this company."

"This was a major project that took about one month to complete - much faster than most contractors. Jose always made good suggestions and often saved us money by repairing/painting instead of replacing. The job was started early and finished in less time than we expected. Sandra handled the contracts and financial arrangements. Both Jose and Sandra were very responsive and professional. We highly recommend J.Y.Handyman!"

"We have been working with Remodeling Max for over two years now. It started when we first wanted to remodel all of our three bathrooms, which they were all done just before our house got completely flooded on Memorial weekend holiday of 2015. Remodeling Max was quick to come back and do a complete remodel for the whole house. The kitchen the bathrooms, the utility room, the garages, all the floors, doors, replace all the windows and adding shutters and crown moldings, door jams, windows sills and baseboards. In April of 2016, and just after the whole house was fully remodeled, our house got flooded again almost a full year after the first flood had happened. This time Remodeling Max came back and replaced all the damaged dry walls, floors, cabinets etc. They also changed all the interior and exterior doors and replaced all the trim moldings and garage doors yet again. They painted the whole house from the inside and the outside as well. After the second flood, we decided to add water drains in the back yard, also redid our wooden and metal fences. We added paver stone for all the back yard, the side yard, and the front yard as well. We also had stone retaining walls put up for all the outside area, redid the sprinkler system, built a patio/gazebo with a fire pet under the patio. We then added outdoor water mist and fans to enjoy ourselves in the hot summer. Remodeling Max also ended up completely replacing our house roof, replaced all the damaged siding, fascia boards, soffits and gutters. They also updated all the electrical wiring, the plumbing lines, and replaced our main electrical box. They moved all the gas lines to our new appliances which they also installed for us. Our house now looks so awesome. We had Remodeling Max change the layout of all the bathrooms and the kitchen. They opened up walls and added loadbearing beams to allow the new open-floor-plan to be possible. I can’t say enough, we are very happy. The new lighting, which was done by Remodeling Max, in the whole house has also improved all the areas dramatically. We also put in under cabinets lighting. The selection of the countertops was right on, we had gotten exotic granite to put in the kitchen and the bathrooms. One last thing, Remodeling Max, had custom built our office, library, entertainment center, and all of our closets carpentry work."

"Mark Gonzalez did a wonderful job on our daughter’s house. We called him and he came out and gave us a quote. Scheduling was an issue and we chose to wait for him to be available. We are glad we did. He did what he agreed to do and then some. An example is in order. The task was to repair sheetrock in several areas throughout the house. Those areas were enumerated and discussed. During the course of the job, he saw other areas that needed repair and fixed those too. He did not make a big deal of it. He just did it. He is also an artist. For example, we were supposed to provide the paint. He requested that he be allowed to get the paint which was great for us. He took samples and went to Sherwin Williams. When he got back with the matched paint, he was not satisfied (looked good to us). He took the paint back and had it redone. To us, it looked good the first time and perfect the second time. His rates are extremely reasonable and does a superb job. Scheduling may be an issue so we suggest to allow sufficient time for him to get to your project. You will be really glad you did."

"We had our traditional white rails taken out, banister replaced.  Dubs, the front man, is very knowledgeable and friendly.  The work crew is VERY GOOD.  Edson and Daniel (brothers) come in and get to work (could be because they have jobs going all over Houston).  This was a one week job....demo one day, banister molding another day, sanding and patching another day.  A few times they were here for an hour --- 'banister day', someone was here all day.  When the guys left for the day, they cleaned up first.
My husband and I keep walking through the entry hall just to admire our new stairway.  Our house is 25 years old, well kept, fairly well updated.  This new stairway makes us feel so hip and very up-to-date!  :)  We are happy, happy with the work....I have already sent an informative email to 3-4 friends who want this work done --- one is making a call today."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in Liberty, TX

A pro can set an attic ladder in two to four hours, including framing adjustments and finish work. Complex installs—like cutting a brand-new opening or trimming joists—land toward the high end of that window. Tackle the job yourself and plan on a full day, plus an extra pair of hands, since one mis-measurement can slow everything down.

Local building codes drive this decision. If your ceiling has a fire-rating requirement, the ladder must match it to maintain that protective barrier. A rated unit slows flame spread between the attic and living space, buying valuable evacuation time and limiting damage.

Because codes vary by city and even by neighborhood, check with the permitting office or ask your contractor before you order the ladder.

Aluminum ladders are light, rust-proof, and easy to maneuver, making them a practical choice for most households. Wood models handle higher weight loads and can match traditional trim if aesthetics top your list, but they’re heavier and need occasional upkeep.

Compare the ladder’s duty rating, your ceiling height, and how often you’ll use it. The best option is the one that balances safety, convenience, and the look you want without stretching the budget.
