"Great guy! Literally the first Electrical Contractor I have dealt with that listened and answered questions and did not make me feel stupid. Very reasonable rates. I will use him again if I need this type of service. I have already recommended him to others."

"Bid was competitive; he was honest (had another contractor here when he gave bid and he said contractor could do the same job for several hundred dollars less); he did not try to "up-sell" any devices or services. PLus he did the work himself. He was on time and finished in the time frame stated. Aside from 1 stray screw, could not tell he had been in my home working for 16 hours. I will use in the future, as well as recommend to anyone looking for an honest, conscientious electrician.

"The Home Improvement Company did a fantastic job on our replacement siding project.  We appreciated their hard work and also the constant communication during the entire process which made this a complete success.  We would definitely use them again on other projects and also recommend to others.  Since completion we have received many positive comments from neighbors and friends on how well our house looks.

"Zach and Luke are great to work with. They showed up when they said they would. Even gave me a heads up when they were about here. They are very professional. They were very patient with me while I was asking questions. I highly recommend these gentleman and will be using them in the near future for upgrades to our home."

"I Called Joe on 3/17/2015 and asked if he would have a look at my old hot tub and let me know if he thought it would be wise to have it repaired or replaced. He returned my call that same day and said he could come by the next day. He called promptly the next day, came out and inspected my tub. He honestly told me that he could repair my hot tub but the cost would outweigh the usefulness. We agreed on having him unhook and take the old tub away. He took care of the electrical hook up and removed the tub from my deck, did an excellent cleanup, and made sure I was happy with his work before he left. Great service and I would recommend him to anyone who has a hot tub or spa.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Linden, IN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
