"First time hiring Kitchen and Bath Specialties and working with Joe Laverdiere. He also came over initially to quote a price and then returned to look over the template, which needed adjustment and a new template created. He wanted to ensure that the countertop would be the correct length. He is very knowledge and scheduled our installation for late this week and completed the installation today. He did run into an issue (not of his doing) and was able to handle it. He communicated very clearly to us what we needed to know. We will hire him to install the tiling as well. I highly recommend him."

"David painted 3 bedrooms with high ceilings and painted the window, closet, and door trims white (originally dark brown oak). He was pleasant to work with and he kept open communication throughout the entire project. He works diligently and is persistent in getting the job done well. I had to address some minor details, but David was excellent in getting those details taken care of in a very timely manner. At the end of the project, he assured me that the quality was up to his standard of approval and I would agree that it was excellent work.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"They subcontracted the work.  Initial wallpaper removal was by local high school kids and was very slow.  Then one college kid who was even slower.  They finally brought in their pro who did as much removal in one day as the others did in a week.  Needless to say, the entire project finished late and missed a critical date.
The painters were very good where they painted except didn't seem to understand what to paint - I would keep pointing out areas out and sometimes they would include the area and sometimes they wouldn't.  Eventually a foreman got them to mostly meet the contract but it wasted time and caused me stress.  I felt like I was the foreman or contractor when I just wanted to write the check and have it done well and on time.  Sadly it wasn't done on time so all my furniture and electronics arrived before the work was done and ended up covered in drywall dust.
I also paid to have the woodwork cleaned and the wall plates matched throughout the house.  Both those were only half done.  They claimed woodwork just means window trim whereas I meant it to include all the wood.  I also had to go to the hardware store and buy and install a bunch of wall plates (which was not a big deal except I had paid them to do that.)
They also asked me to pay extra to clean up afterwards - I don't know of any business who does any job and then doesn't clean up after themselves.
I believe they have a good reputation, but if you use them make sure the contract specificies no subcontracting and be sure you and they agree on what is and isn't included in the work.

Remodeling.

"Quality contractors who take pride in their work are very hard to find, Especially if they are out-of-state. I live in California and this contractor is located in Illinois. Justin worked on a 3-bedroom, 2 bath rental home I own in Illinois. Justin installed a wrought iron hand railings on the front porch and also repaired cracked concrete. His personality matched his work ethics. Justin was professional and overall, was very easy to communicate with. he took pride in his work. It was truly a job well done. Thanks Justin!"

"Steve and crew did a fantastic job remodeling my bathroom and making it handicap accessible. My Dad is moving back home with me after recovering from hip surgery and has some mobility challenges so I was needing something a little more than your standard remodel. However, Steve and team were able to come up with the right solution pretty much on their own. The number of and placement of handicap bars is spot on. Other details like the color of tile and layout were decided by Steve and crew, which turned out beautifully. Steve was very flexible working with my schedule and dealing with any changes that came up during the project. He did a great job adjusting to those changes, relaying to his workers what should be done, and coming up with cost-effective and practical solutions where alterations were needed or problems arose. Steve is not only passionate about what he does but when you add in the high quality of workmanship and affordable price together it makes for a very satisfying total experience. The bathroom remodel was completed satisfactorily and within the needed time frame. "He was awesome.  He called back, but he was working in Reed field, North Carolina and he could not get to us for a couple of days.  By the time, he got to us we had already gotten the other estimates, and we were pleased with him.  Hampton guy was great.  He was really quick to get back to us, but he had other projects that he had already lined up.  The experience was very satisfactory.  He was very courteous, and prompt.  He was very honest in saying that he cannot get to us, and if we needed to have this work done now, then we need to have to get somebody else.  I appreciated that."
