"Our main sewer line backed up on Saturday afternoon. After a bit of research on Angie's List, I called The Drain Company around 3:00 and was given a verbal dollar estimate ($145 minimum on the weekend) and a time estimate of between 5:00 and 8:00 PM. I received a call from Kent at 5:15 PM that he was on the way. He arrived about a half an hour later. He sent the snake down the line, and it soon cleared the clog. He left it going for several extra feet to make sure to clear any additional roots all the way to the street.

They were friendly, polite, and knew the job. They were on time and met the agreed on price. I would not hesitate to call them again!"

"Our experience with the Drain Guys went very well. As with all service providers, the previous jobs they're scheduled for sometimes delays their next job which is what happened with us. But, once Eddie was on the job, he took care of the problem and us very well.

"On July 19, 2019 Richco repaired a corroded water inlet pipe where it enters through a stucco wall. This included replacing pipe in the wall and shut-off valves for a nearby sink. New supply hoses were included. The technician, Fernando, produced excellent results to my complete satisfaction."

"I just had a new roof installed and the following week the heater stopped working. I call and they sent a repairman out the same day. When he arrived I explained the issue of the heater starting and then stopping a few minutes later for no apparent reason. After checking everything out he determined because of multiple error codes in the system that the main chip (brains of the system) was malfunctioning and the best bet would be to get a new system. Even when he would do overrides to determine the cause the system kept giving him random error messages. I was ready to fork over $3000 for a new heater when he decided to check one more thing. We went up on the roof and found that the roofers had placed the exhaust cap for the furnace on too far down closing off the exhaust hence forcing the safety systems in the heater to shutdown. Long story short, he found the problem in about an hour and although he could have charge me for a new furnace he went the extra step and found the true cause. That's called integrity my friend and it is a rare trait these days. I would recommend Bob and Marc to any one looking for skilled, honest repairmen.

"I had to leave before he was through. When I came back, I wasn't here to give him permission. There was a hose connection that needed to be replaced. He didn't replace it. It was going to be $100 more. I wanted a pan under it and he didn't have one. My son had to help him carry it in. I don't think I would use him again. He came from a long distance. There were no additional costs. I went over to the hardware store to buy the part that he needed which he wanted to charge me $100 for. He was an older man. I felt bad that he even had to carry it. That's why my son helped him to carry it from his truck.  When I hire somebody, I don't want to feel bad about them doing the job. He didn't complete the work. He didn't have the parts that I wanted."

"This was not the first time I worked with Tony and his crew. I had major restoration work done about 5 years ago for over $100,000. I thought I was finished for at least 10 years since everything seemed to have been either upgraded or repaired. Was I wrong! A window started to leak. Not a small leak, it was as if there was no window at all. My first instinct was to get through the rainy season by sealing the window. Then each window in succession started to show small leaks. I called Nexxus Remodeling and spoke to Tony. He came over assessed the situation, gave me advice, and I was not thrilled at all. The cost was shocking. I only wanted to replace the living room windows since I have 24 windows, 2 of which are picture windows. He went along with what I wanted which was to leave the stained glass windows in the kitchen alone and do them later. He started the process, I changed my mind, added more windows, and eventually had all of them replaced. It was a long process since this started in January during the rain plus I changed my mind which stopped work until the rest of the windows came in. I cannot repeat all the details about the process of window replacement but it is a process that has a timeline that cannot be rushed if done correctly and I could not be happier. They even had to re build an entire wall due to major termite, dry rot, and every kind of rot one could think of. Francisco guided the process with a talented group of guys. I have plantation shutters on the majority of the windows which are only 5 years old. They were preserved and able to be attached again. I also added a few other items to be done around the house which were accomplished. Tony was available at all times during the entire job. I had no doubt about the quality but every once in awhile I would need reassurance everything I wanted was going to being done. Tony was available. It is rare to have someone so committed to the process and outcome. Bottom line, Nexxus Remodeling comes through with attention to detail and consideration of the homeowner. There may be times you want to scream and do, but Tony and his team will always keep the homeowner in mind and do their very best."

FAQs for septic system installation and replacement projects in Los Angeles, CA

The smallest standard septic system uses a 500-gallon tank, which costs between $875 and $1,150 installed. This size works well for single-occupant dwellings with minimal wastewater production. However, many local regulations specify minimum tank sizes, so check with your building department before committing to this compact option. Some jurisdictions require at least 750 gallons regardless of home size to ensure adequate waste processing capacity.

The installation timeline varies based on site conditions, permit processing, and contractor schedules. The process includes obtaining permits, conducting soil tests, excavation, tank placement, leach field construction, and final connections. Weather conditions, soil challenges, and inspection scheduling can all affect the overall timeline. It's wise to begin planning well in advance of when you need the system operational.

The most economical approach is to install a conventional anaerobic system with a plastic tank. To minimize costs while maintaining legality, obtain multiple quotes from licensed installers, consider scheduling during their slower seasons, and handle basic site preparation yourself. Never skip permits or required testing to save money—illegal installations can result in significant fines and mandatory removal, ultimately costing far more than doing it right initially.

Regular pumping helps prevent system failures and extends operational life. Most small systems require pumping every three to five years, though frequency depends on household size and usage patterns. Pumping services cost between $290 and $530, making this maintenance expense relatively minor compared to potential repair costs ranging from $500 to $2,600 for neglected systems. Establishing a regular maintenance schedule based on your installer's recommendations helps avoid costly emergency services.
