"After our kids repeatedly locked us out of the bathroom by shutting the door with a broken lock, I finally called Alan. He had rekeyed our house a few years ago and I remember him doing a great job, being punctual, quick, and no-nonsense. Alan was available to fix my interior door lock, offered a reasonable and lower rate than other locksmith quotes to show up to do the job (even though it was a small job, most had higher flat rates for service calls,) showed up 10 minutes early, and fixed the lock in 10 minutes. Wonderful. <br />"

"It went well.  From the beginning with Sean helping us decide on the right door to Roberto doing the install, everything was up front and all our questions were answered.  We love our new door. <br /> I would use them again. <br />"

"Chris did a fantastic job. His work is first class, a real craftsman with attention to detail. His price if fair and he honored the agreement. Installing replacement windows in an 80 year old house is not an easy job. Chris provided a suggestion for a manufacturer which proved great. He has extensive knowledge in window and door replacement and was a pleasure to work with. We are happy."

"Great crew, very polite and extremely professional. They arrived on time and replaced the rollers on five sliding doors in just under an hour. The two sliding screen doors came the next day and the crew arrived on time and installed the sliding screen doors in less than 20 minutes. All-in-all, this was a great experience and the price was right. We had another company give us a bid for the same work and they wanted $2,000.00. I think Acme Sliding Door Repair is, by far, the best sliding door repair company in the Palm Springs and surrounding desert area."

"Woke up one night to a shattering noise, which was one of the glass shower walls crashing to the floor.  Called several other businesses to replace the glass, but their initial estimates were well over the Silver Shower Door estimates.  And since we are considering a bathroom remodel, it really didn't matter too much about quality, as much as cost.  They came out to get the measurements, and ordered the piece of glass.  When the glass came in, there was a scratch in the glass, and they had to re-order.  I said the scratch was OK since we were going to remodel anyway, but they insisted of re-ordering.  So, a couple of days later, they came back with the new glass, which was an excellent piece of glass; didn't see any drop in quality from the existing glass.  Installation was done in a snap.  They also replaced a splash guard at the bottom of the shower door at no additional cost, and were willing to reverse the door hinges, which were originally installed backwards, but since the door was functional, we chose not to have the hinges reversed.  Good company.  Would definitely use then again. <br />"

"The job was done nicely. However, after setting up the install several weeks in advance because of logistics, they cancelled due to out of town something. The next time install was scheduled, they were running so late because of either traffic or accident or ? we agreed another day. Job performed nicely, however I have asked three separate times to get a copy of invoice. This was done at a rental unit and my tenant gave them the check. I had the check waiting for him, he cashed that day, but cannot seem to give me a copy of invoice. Very poor business practice. I did my part of the job. I would not hire him again because of this. I want my invoice."

"The project manager, Tom Cohen, was so helpful from our first meeting. He was knowledgeable about the windows and explained the differences so I could make the best choice for the money I had to spend. The windows were replaced and I'm happy with my beautiful new sliding door. The work was done quickly and my home was left in great condition. I had no clean up to do after the workers finished. Tom helped me process all the paperwork and arranged for financing , also very helpful. I would use this company again and I would ask to work with Tom Cohen. I trust him to help with future projects."

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Lucerne Valley, CA

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
