"Service was great from sales, to installation, to post installation support. Very responsive, very professional. It's hard to find in this 'space'--there are a lot of shady people in basement water damage/repair, and this place exceeded expectations. We've had our repair in place for 4+ years, with only 1 small issue on a wall seam crack, and that was fixed within 24 hours of reporting the issue. Stand up place! Thank you for such great service and support."

Customers say: Quick response

"I recently had the pleasure of working with MF Builders on a home addition, kitchen remodeling, and bathroom remodeling project, and I am beyond thrilled with the results! From the very beginning, their team was professional, communicative, and truly took the time to understand my vision for the space. The home addition turned out better than I could have imagined, seamlessly blending with the existing structure while adding much-needed space and functionality. The kitchen remodel completely transformed the heart of my home. It now feels open, modern, and incredibly efficient. The attention to detail in the cabinetry, countertops, and lighting really made a difference. As for the bathroom, it went from outdated to absolutely luxurious. The design was both practical and stylish, with quality finishes and fixtures that made it feel like a spa. Throughout the process, the MF Builders team was respectful of my space, kept the work area tidy, and always made sure I was satisfied with each step. What really stood out was their commitment to meeting deadlines and staying within budget. They provided regular updates and were always open to any questions or concerns I had. I am so happy with the final outcome and highly recommend MF Builders to anyone looking to renovate or expand their home. They exceeded my expectations in every way!"

"Alkis is a true professional! He was responsive when we had a roof leak. Ultimately, we decided to replace the roof and are happy with the new roof. We've referred him to several family members and friends and all have been totally satisfied!"

"Greg was a lifesaver. I decided to move from New Jersey to Kentucky and it was overwhelming. Greg took charge. I needed some items to be disposed of from a storage unit. He came one evening and took care of that. Then he came back and loaded up that storage unit and my upstairs apartment, all by himself, during the process he communicated everything, was efficient and very professional. He drove my belongings to Kentucky and unloaded them all. My next plan is to build a house here and I’m 100% highing Greg to do the job. He’s highly skilled in all areas of renovations and construction, I’ve seen his work, he truly cares and is an expert in all areas and he goes above to make sure that you feel comfortable in all steps of the way. Thank you so much Greg!"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Manville, NJ

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
