They identified several parts that need to be replaced due to aging or because the original plumbing (1960) no longer meets code. They did not pressure me to make all of the updates now. However, when they found tha the upstairs toilet was leaking down to the basement floor with each flush, it was apparent that the toilet needed to be replaced. "Harrison showed up on time, even a little early, he called before he came. He did a professional job of installing the new faucet, sink drain and toilet. I contacted 6 plumbers, 5 from Angie's list, one recommended by my tiler, this plumber never returned my call. "I found water damage in the morning and after considerable investigation, determined that it was from a pinhole leak in a water pipe in the basement.  I had to turn off the main water valve to stop the leak, so I needed to repair this quickly.  I have used Burkhardt Plumbing before with success, so I called them again.  They were able to come that afternoon ( I called around noon) and Dean arrived within the promised time slot. 



He fixed the leak, and also advised me that it was probably due to insulation around the pipe which was held in place by small wires.  The insulation around the wire itself was decaying (probably installed 40 years ago) and could have caused an electrostatic charge (?) between the two metals which would corrode the copper pipe.  I appreciated this extra information, so that I can remove the rest of the insulation and prevent future leaks (the insulation was put on to prevent condensation and is no longer necessary).   I thought the cost of the repair was fair.
