"I had one of the worst experiences I ve ever had with a contractor. The man who came out was extremely pushy and would not leave my house I had to ask him several times to go, practically pushing him out the door. He kept trying to convince me that I needed to replace my entire electrical panel because my house was going to catch fire and that I didn t have a lightning rod, so we were at risk of being struck by lightning. Both my husband and I are elderly, and the way he spoke to us was intimidating and inappropriate. I told him repeatedly that all I wanted was a quote to move my existing 240-volt wiring into the kitchen island where the stove is going. But he just wouldn t listen. He sounded like someone on the streets of New York trying to sell T-shirts out of an alley he wouldn t let it go. As he was finally leaving, he turned around and said, Don t worry, I recorded it, and I told him, So did I why do you think the phone was sitting in front of you? A short time later, I got one of those inspection reports where everything is color-coded green for good, yellow for caution, and red for urgent. Every single item on mine was marked green: the panels, the wiring, everything. Then, about a week or two later, he sent me a bid for $1,500, which I assume was to replace the panel even though he never focused on the small wiring job I asked for. His estimate included hiring a concrete company and renting equipment, which made no sense for what I wanted done. It was an awful experience, and my friends are still laughing about how outrageous it was. I would never use Angie again after this because clearly, you don t vet your contractors properly."
