"This go 'round we had Mr. Turner and his crew tear down our old desk and replace with a new one - IT IS BEAUTIFUL! Mr. Turner is not just a contractor, he has the eye of an artist - makes whatever idea or design you have better; more functional and more beautiful. He has done many projects around our home and he is the only contractor we use and the only one we recommend to friends."

"I had a great experience with the American Contractor Near Me. They remodeled our cafe's kitchen and the new look is amazing. It was an absolute pleasure to work with this company. The crew members were incredibly patient, taking the time to thoroughly explain all of our options and patiently answering every question we had. I will hire them again for all my remodeling needs in the future"

"Although I chose not to accept the proposal from this company, I was very turnned off by how unprofessional they were when they received negative feedback. The owner, Roger, was very polite and professional all through getting the estimate, however, after respectfully telling him I would not accept his proposal because it was grossly over compensated (a statement backed up by multiple neighbors who had the same work done and another estimate I received from a different contractor), he immediately sent me an email trying to convince me that the contractor I was chosing was unequipped to complete the job. He attacked the contractor and insulted me by attacking my own personal knowledge. I then posted a review of my interaction with RCH on my community's private Facebook group. He got word of this from another member and immediately threatened me with a slander law suit (nothing I posted was not true nor was it disrespectful of his business in anyway). He sent me multiple emails harassing me about my post. He even tried to join the closed group but was denied immediately. This business is not recommended. The only reason I am not giving a complete F is that I hope he was just having a bad day and hope he can do better in the future to turn his business rating around on Angie's List. I truly do hope I am the one only negative review he ever receives. I wish him luck and the very best."

"The work was started on the scheduled date as agreed upon and the work was completed within a couple of days. Richard came out to look over the job and provided an estimate for the work within a couple of days. The old toilets and vanity were hauled away. The job was completed for the estimated price. The is the second time I have used A+ and I am equally as pleased this time as I was when they painted the exterior of my home. I highly recommend them."

"Excellent! We were so apprehensive to build a custom home when we couldn't be there every day to oversee the project( we were 5 states away). Mike kept us up to date with photo's and progress reports. He met up with us to select finishes and was so helpful giving us tips and recommendations. Top quality workmanship. Truly and very happy with our forever home."

"<p>We recently purchased a much older home in Clarke County that was in dire need of a new kitchen.  We hired Chris Cardinale and Sidney Enterprises after receiving estimates from a number of local contractors because of his experience, his understanding of our wants and needs, his reasonable estimate, and his ability to translate our vision into our dream kitchen.  We selected the perfect general contractor ? Chris and Sidney Enterprises did an incredible job!</p> <p>The work started on time and stayed on schedule in spite of bad weather and ?unforeseen circumstances? that are expected in a home this old (Pre-1770)!  The job was to build an entire new kitchen addition that needed siding, a new porch, windows, and stone foundation.  The job also included removal of the old kitchen walls (thick plaster with on-site made bricks behind the plaster as insulation), floors and ceilings, installing a new foundation, removal of a load-bearing wall and the installation of an unobtrusive support system, and state of the art plumbing and electric systems.  Following this, Chris met us several times on the weekend to pick out the cabinets and marble countertops and gave us great advice on those.  Chris communicated with us during every step of this renovation ? he kept us updated on the progress and made sure that we were aware of and understood any problems or issues that had come up ? with recommendations on how to best address them.</p> <p> Another area where we were really impressed with Chris and his crews were their efforts to maintain the look and feel of our older home by using materials and techniques that closely matched the original.  They reused the original wood, etc. when possible and worked with mills in the local area to source and re-use other wood.  The final results, as you can see in the attached pictures, are breathtaking.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"We just finished a spectacular custom home project in McLean, VA and we are so very grateful to Seth Ballard and his team! If you are considering hiring his firm, look no further. There can be no better architect in the DC/VA/MD area – and his pricing is more than fair. We first picked Seth because we loved his architectural style and heard that he had a reputation for ensuring that his plans are executed with impeccable precision and attention to quality. Also, his references were stellar….without exception, his former clients offered glowing praise for his talent, diligence, and follow-through. And now that we are former clients, we understand why. We always knew we were going to have a gem of a home with Seth at the helm. What we did not fully appreciate at the beginning was his proven ability to help us STAY ON BUDGET and his deep bench of connections with first-rate contractors and subcontractors who were prepared to bend over backward to meet Seth’s exacting standards. Here are just a few highlights from our experience: CONCEPT PHASE: During the initial meetings at our home, Seth went the extra mile to learn all about our lifestyle, future needs, architectural likes/dislikes, and budget. During this stage of the process, he would effortlessly make freehand drawings to help us visualize potential styles and layouts. We ultimately elected to go with a craftsman design, with lots of wood features inside and out. PICKING THE RIGHT PROPERTY: Seth joined us for car rides through the local neighborhoods, helping us to scout out the property that was best suited for our construction plans – free of any potential HOA or permitting snafus. DESIGN: With Seth’s guidance, we iterated on different design options. The design phase was high-tech and highly visual. Lots of 2D and 3D elevations, plus 360-degree videos. At each step, Seth clearly identified the estimated construction cost, and we would make decisions about what to dial-up and what to dial-down. For example, we elected to go with a cheaper asphalt roof (rather than slate), but with a more premium window. There were literally dozens of choices like that, and Seth did a superb job of helping us to make the right trade-offs and to “value engineer” the house. PICKING THE RIGHT CONTRACTOR AND SUBS: One of the things that distinguishes Seth from the competition is that he works closely with a handful of contractors and subcontractors who have already been “pre-screened” for excellence. Seth connected us with a general contractor who was not only honest and diligent, but whose carpentry was truly “artisan grade.” Seth also drew upon a stable of outstanding subcontractors – in areas such as HVAC/plumbing, electrical/lighting, structural engineering, cabinetry, tile, drywall/paint, countertops, hardwood flooring, landscaping, etc. It was perfectly clear that these subs were striving to deliver the highest quality and exemplary service. Why? Because Seth was an important source of repeat business for them. This made them extremely responsive. BUDGETING: Seth developed detailed spreadsheets estimating costs for every aspect of the project, as well as options for “enhancements.” Once we made our choices, he was instrumental in securing a FLAT FEE CONTRACT with the builder (inclusive of subs) for everything we wanted. To provide even more control over the cost, the agreement specified that certain items would be “owner provided, contractor installed.” This meant that, regardless of whether we bought pricey appliances or tile or flooring, it would have no impact of the builder’s fees. To his credit, Seth’s estimates were quite accurate, and the project stayed on budget. ARCHITECT FEES: We negotiated a flat fee for Seth’s architectural services, and got way more than we bargained for. We had no idea Seth would stay so engaged throughout the project -- micromanaging every detail, and even offering interior design suggestions (e.g., stains and paints, cabinet and window designs, furniture layouts, etc.). It became clear that, regardless of how much we had agreed to pay in fees, Seth was “all in,” and was committed to ensuring that the end result was perfection. To be sure, in any large construction project, there will be some hiccups. But this was yet another area where Seth shined. Rather than being indifferent, or pointing the finger at those who were actually at fault, he would step up to “own the problem” and take charge until the issue was resolved. In one such case, he developed a design tweak that saved us money and produced a more beautiful result in the process. We never had to stress too much, because we knew Seth was 100% engaged and we could trust that the final work product would be a treasure of a home. One final thought. While Seth’s tremendous talent is obviously perfect for large custom projects, we have no doubt that he can deliver outstanding value for smaller home renovations too. When we did kitchen/bath renovations in our prior home, we naively thought that a “design-and-build” firm would deliver the best solution. With the benefit of hindsight, we could have done so much better hiring Seth as the independent architect and separately hiring a builder who would be accountable to the architect. The result would have been better quality construction, a better value, and far less stress. So whether you are about to embark on a modest remodel or getting ready to “dream big” with a new custom home, look no further than Ballard Mensua Architecture."

"About a year prior to this repair, we had a brand new AC unit installed by another HVAC technician that was hired by our Property Management company and the unit stopped cooling.  The other technician would not even answer calls or emails.  Wayne had completed some handyman work for us before so he was the first one I thought to try to get this fixed.  When Wayne went out, he discovered all the coolant had leaked out due to an incorrect installation.  He even discovered the fan on the outside unit was running the wrong way.  Wayne did a great job of reaching out to the manufacturer of the unit and probably saved us several thousand dollars.  Luckily this wasn't an emergency fix but he still completed the entire project within a couple of days during the middle of summer when he was super busy.  He is always very responsive, communicative and sticks to his timeline.  Highly recommended!"

"EXCEPTIONAL! The sales rep, Mark was very knowledgeable and anxious to serve us. He was not pushy but tether consultative in the sales process. "We made plans to have the work done while we were on vacation just to avoid the normal disruption that goes with construction. We covered everything in the master bath with tarps to account for whatever trash landed there. We also had planned for a third party to wire in the attic fans when we returned home. <br /> So, the plan was that while we were out of town the crew would replace all of the shingles, any soft wood underneath, and take care of the other installations. It went flawlessly. The installation was exactly as we discussed. The job was perfect (and the roof still looks beautiful). The skylights were top of the line, and the vent fans were also of excellent quality. Even the trash in the bathroom (which we expected) was minimal; I just folded up the tarps and shook them out. I found a few nails in the yard, but really only a few; other than those, you would never have known they were here. <br /> I really appreciated the fact that there was zero downtime for us. I was a little concerned with not being able to oversee the work, but everything was exactly as we discussed. Now, seven years later, not a single leak from the roof, the skylights, or the fans. I'm still very pleased. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Martinsburg, WV

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
