"We used this company to perform temporary repair about 4 years ago. They applied sealing membranes to both chimneys, but one of them cracked. They gave us a quote for a permanent repair and we scheduled a date. Dan and his crew arrived as agreed and did a great job. They were professional and conscientious. They cleaned up the debris from the job and washed down the deck and work area so you couldn't tell they had been there. Dan took pictures and reviewed them with us before he left and then the office emailed the pictures to us for our files. The chimneys look great."

"The rep showed up on time. Inspected the chimney with a flexible probe fed from the inside up into the chimney as well as getting up on the roof and visually inspecting the chimney from the roof. He was very honest and said there was no build up and a cleaning was not needed. I was appreciative of not charging me for unneeded services. Consequently, the fee was less than quoted. Well worth the peace of mind."

"I was satisfied with my consultation/inspection of my old chimney. I did not purchase a wood stove or chimney liner this year, only because I just purchased this old cabin and I am still trying to decide whether I will be able to renovate it, or if it will need to be completely torn down and rebuilt. The store does push it's own brand of wood stove; however, from all the research I have done, it appears to be a quality line. Additionally, I contacted a friend after my inspection to go over the prices quoted by Dan's for the chimney liner and wood stove. I wanted another professional's opinion...my friend was the owner of a wood stove store for many years. This friend advised that prices quoted by Dan's for the liner, wood stove and labor were very reasonable, given the quality of products. Again, I did not actually have a wood stove installed - I only paid for an inspection. But, I was satisfied with my inspection and the products offered by the store. My plan is to use Dan's when I make the decision on where and when to have a wood stove installed."

"Great job!  Our gas insert refused to light via remote for the past year despite service by another provider.  Tech called about 30 minutes before arrival to let us know he was on the way (he arrived well within the one hour service window provided) and he went right to work.  He was able to find the cause of the problem and fix it in this one visit.  Completely satisfied with service! <br />"

"They came out and gave me a quote very promptly. They were polite and for informative. They came out and performed the work as expected until.... I received a call a month later from the electrician who needed to install the outlet for the dehumidifier. I had been told the job was complete and they had asked for payment in full. I was outraged to realize that the work had not been completed a month after they said it was. I reached out to the company to express my concerns and they have yet to contact me. Very disappointed."

"The deck installation went very well. I was completely satisfied with the quality work provided by Hector and his crew. Want to put Alvaro in the spotlight as he was the one who built the deck and put a divider that I requested. It was a beautiful job, the pride of my neighborhood. It was definitely a work of art, Alvaro was very meticulous and was very articulate in all the details. Magnificent job, and I'm so glad I hired Tough Builders to do my deck. Completely satisfied and I'm hiring them again as we speak to do another patio job. Don't be skeptical, Hector's crew is the best in town."

"It took a little while to get a return call after initial contact, but after that it was an excellent experience. The estimate $300-400 lower than the next lowest estimate. Workers arrived on schedule and completed work in just 2 days. They performed a thorough cleanup at the end of each day and their work was beautiful. <br />"

"<p>The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process.  He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately.  Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.  </p> <p>The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them.   An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process.  They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane.  Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation.  He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925).  This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.</p> <p>Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever.  We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough.  I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work.  I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.</p> <br />"

"We contacted John on 10/17 and scheduled an appointment for 10/19 at 1:00pm. John's son arrived at 1:15pm (close enough to be considered punctual). and immediately started to work - but not before he showered love on our two dogs and put them at ease. <br /> He first climbed to the roof to inspect the chimney cap. While up there, he noticed that it was attached with rivets, so he took those out and attached it with screws for ease of maintenance in the future. <br /> Once the inspection was over, he came down to the fireplace and created a and quot;dirt shieldand quot; for the fireplace with a piece of cardboard, then cut a hole in the cardboard for his (industrial strength) vacuum. He then closed the flue, setup the cardboard, turned the vacuum on, and went back up on the room to sweep all of the dirt down. Not a BIT of dirt escaped the fireplace - not even a whiff of dust. <br /> Afterwards, he came back downstairs, and reaching in behind the piece of cardboard, opened up the flue and let the vacuum handle all of the dust that fell down from that. Finally, he cleaned the little bit remaining from inside the fire place, and swept the walls and emptied all of the debris. During all of this time, he left the vacuum on, and again, not a bit of dirt escaped. He even vacuumed around the fireplace - he actually left it cleaner than he found it. <br /> Once that was done, he climbed back on to the roof with a gas blower and cleaned the entire roof - multiple levels, skylights, and even cleaned out all of the gutters. <br /> The cost? $92 for the chimney, and only $20 for the cleaning of the roof and gutters! <br /> All in all, an exceptional service call - and I will definitely be using them again after all of the leaves have fallen! <br />"

"So like a number of other house, we had sinking front concrete steps. Our sizable front stairs had sunk about 6 inches and pull the attached walk with it. It got to the point we just had to have them replaced. I checked out various options for having them mud-jacked, but my concern was that that would not really fix the issue for the long term and they would just end up sinking again. After getting several bids we went with Tavis at Quality Concrete and Masonry. They weren't the cheapest bid but seemed the most trustworthy and had the best plan to make sure the problem did not re-occur. Tavis started on a Tuesday and was essentially work complete by Saturday. His work was very high quality. Because of the site, amount of concrete, etc. he used 1.5" rebar instead of the standard 0.5" rebar to tie the steps to the house. ( I've never even seen 1.5" rebar before.) Site was left clean each day and the final product exceeded our expectations."
