"I reached out to this company for a sump pump upgrade and a cracked wall repair. The technician who did my install was very polite and informative. We've had several big storms since my installation was done and I'm happy to say my basement has remained totally dry. I'm very glad I chose this company, I would recommend them to anyone in need of help with their basement!"

"In January of this year, my wife and I decided we needed to transform our finished basement to an inhabitable living area. That would require adding a bathroom and an egress window for â emergency escapeâ . We hired a contractor for the bathroom and began the research on egress windows. As we were anxious to move ahead ASAP, I began contacting companies that installed egress windows. We had a couple of reps come out, look at our basement, discuss the process and quote prices. Estimates ranged from $8000 to $12000. Most had 2 things in common. 1} They could not schedule the job until somewhere in May or June as â windowsâ wouldnâ t be available until then. 2) Any â finishingâ work (necessary sheet rock and trim) would be extra as they did not do that. In March, I happened upon a copy of a regional advertising magazine (Clipper) which came in our mail. In it was an advertisement for â Basement Gurusâ . Since we still hadnâ t made a commitment for the work, I gave them a call. After discussing the job with them, I came to conclusion to go with â Basement Gurusâ . There were five reasons why I made this decision. 1) It appeared to me, based on reviews, the company had a good reputation. 2) The fact that they had windows in stock. This would move job completion date up significantly over what I had been told by at least three other companies. 3) The price. 4) Excavation would be done manually eliminating the possibility of damage to my neighborâ s lawn. 5) Sheetrock and finishing included. Our egress window project (install/follow up sheetrock/trim) was completed on time. Three workers came to our home for the install. They completed the window in three days. Very efficient, professional. Our township inspector came out a few days later and said â all looked goodâ . Also, John the sheetrock/trim person told me he had done a number of egress finishes. He said this one, as opposed to some heâ d seen, looked really good. The sheetrock and trim was completed in one day. An egress window is a big job. They make alterations to your homeâ s foundation! All in all, Basement Gurus did an awesome job! We now have a really nice â livableâ basement adding significant value to our home. Basement Gurus gets my full recommendation! "I am extremely glad I chose basement gurus over their other local competitors. First the owner of the company Josh is first class. Down to earth, straight forward, thorough, and a man of his word. If Josh gives you his word, it is as good as gold. The team that water proofed our basement was on time, hard working, and clean. I would highly recommend."

"Mr. Yoder started construction in November, approximately three weeks later than planned. This was due to his having been unexpectedly hospitalized with appendicitis. However, in that time he kept us completely informed as to his status and when he expected to start by calling us at least once a week. He also ensured all government paperwork and permits were obtained and this effort was part of the final bill.

The work went very smoothly, with some inevitable, though minor delays due to bad weather (it was November and December, after all). He cleard the foundation area and three-foot-deep holes for the main support posts, which were anchored with cement. He next put up all of the framing, siding, roof, etc. and installed the windows and doors.

Work such as laying the concrete for the floor, intalling gutters and downspouts and electrical work were handled by subcontractors, the price of which also was included in the final bill. Please note, the original asking price was about $19,000, but we requested some additions, such as wall insulation and installing a new sidewalk concurrent with the garage foundation, which added to the price.

The work began on Nov. 16, 2011, and was finished just before Christmas.

We have photographs of the work in progress and the finished garage available to be emailed to anyone interested in seeing Mr. Yoder's work."

"Excellent wish all my contractors came out this good.  showed up for the estimate on time and had a video that showed the steps to fix the basement.  measured  the basement and made up contract.  when I mentioned angies list and deals offered we built it right into contract without printing coupons and stuff. were quick with availability came out the following week.  foreman (Dan) was on time and double checked everything before starting .Wanted to move sump pump and outside drain to a less used area. not a PROBLEM. Was loud and cold in the house all day as if you run the furnace while they work it comes through the vents.  laid out carpet protectors and were done in only 1 day (the estimator planned 2)  Jackhammered the floor out and dug down to foundation laid new drains and installed new sump pump. they brought 5 people and they all worked hard constantly for the day.  lost track of all the buckets after 30 (5 gal. buckets).removed with old crap.  Explained all the warranties and paperwork with new sump pump.  Have to wait for the concrete to dry. it's now 3 days later and I'm ready to put the basement back together.  Looks great and can't wait to use the basement without wet and damp floors and walls furnace)  did forget to put screen back in basement window but if you have leaky walls and damp floors this is nice.  any problems after the next big rain I'll let ya's know.

"My entire basement was waterproofed over 20 years ago. Water was coming in again, so the salesperson recommended I have the waterproofing on one wall re-done, a vapor barrier installed on that wall, rebar inserted in 3 places inside the wall, cinder blocks in those rows filled with concrete, & a sump pump that was less than a year old - replaced. I was not at all happy with the fact that they required me to replace such a new sump pump in order to get the full warranty on the project. However, I was very impressed by the tons of good reviews I read about this company and the fact that they've been in business for 30 years. I must admit, I was also feeling very good about only having to pay a little over $5,000 to resolve such a scary-looking situation (my block wall was sliding off the foundation)! My relationship with the company really suffered on the first day of the project. Jaime (the project leader) advised me that I should really have the wall reinforced with steel beams, which would cost an "additional" $4,000+, and that I might also want to consider reinforcing a second wall with carbon fiber straps, which would cost another $5,400. Everything he said made sense, considering the looks of things - and I believed him. My issue was, why wasn't that information given to me by the salesperson? It felt very much like a bait and switch situation. By this point, work was in progress and my concrete flooring had been jack-hammered up in front of the worst wall. Considering the costs were now soaring, I said I wanted to get additional estimates to compare with theirs, before having the more extensive work performed. Jaime contacted John (his boss), who insisted they complete all work that had been contracted thus far, including replacing the concrete section of the floor. "Won't the floor have to be jack-hammered up again, in preparation of the steel beam installations," I asked? He confirmed that to be true. I argued that it didn't make sense to spend the time & money pouring the concrete when their crew, or the crew of another company would just have to tear it back up again. He was pretty adamant, but I was even more so, and the floor stayed open while I obtained the other estimates. I realize they wanted to have enough of the work completed to collect payment, which I paid in full, without question. But I really did not appreciate this added stress to an already stressful situation. I did hire Basement Waterproofing Nationwide, Inc. to do the additional work on the worst wall. I still have faith in their expertise, Jaime was very knowledgeable, the crew did great work and really did a good job keeping the mess to a minimum. After all the contention between John and I, we even ended on a good note. I hope Basement Waterproofing Nationwide, Inc., will be more understanding of the customer's position the next time, if they ever encounter such a change in project scope again."

FAQs for concrete foundation repair projects in Massey, MD

Visible cracks, water leaks, uneven floors, or walls that won’t line up are classic red flags. You might also notice sticking windows, doors that no longer latch, or exterior cracks crawling up brick or siding. Even a damp, musty basement can hint at trouble. If you spot any of these, call a foundation pro right away. Early inspections cost far less than waiting until the damage threatens your home’s stability.

Yes, foundation problems impact your home’s value. Buyers want proof that the foundation is stable, and a recent, professional repair can actually boost confidence in your home. You’ll need to disclose the work, but documentation showing the structure was properly stabilized, especially with piers in regions known for shifting soil, often reads as a plus, not a problem. Skipping repairs, on the other hand, can cut your sale price and shrink the pool of interested buyers. Taking care of the issue protects both value and peace of mind.

Foundations are engineered for exceptional longevity when constructed correctly and maintained diligently. Concrete slab foundations remain structurally sound for 200 years, while other foundation types deliver integrity between 75 and 100 years. Regular professional inspections and timely maintenance further secure a foundation’s lifespan and ensure your home stays safe over the long term.
