"I highly recommend Bay State Bath. The installers did a fabulous job efficient ,respectful. When done they cleaned up the area and you would never know they had been here. If you’re thinking of installing a walk-in shower, do it now, you won’t regret it. I should’ve done it years ago."

"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"Jeff and his team did a FABULOUS job!!!! Everyone was great and such hard workers. His team was always prompt, very friendly, and ready to work. The amount of skill that was put in for the remodeling of my mother’s bathroom was incredible. My mother is now in love with her new bathroom thanks to Jeff’s team!! Special shout out to Elvis and his wife for their hard work and willingness to help out when needed. Their kind hearted souls and work ethic shows how dedicated they are to their job. May God bless them tremendously. Also the electricians did a wonderful job in installing a vent with new lighting in the bathroom. Kudos to them! Everyone was great and did a nice job in everything they specialized in. I highly recommend Jeff and his team you will not be disappointed. I will mist definitely use him for future renovations. Thanks to everyone for such an awesome job!!"

"John is the best! We obtained 3-4 quotes for our full bathroom remodel. Everyone else estimated 6+ weeks to remodel the bathroom - which is our only shower. John promised he would have it done in 2 weeks. It was fully complete in 13 days! This was a total remodel down to the studs. Great work, super fast, super responsive, and his cost was right in the middle of the estimates we received. This was in Nov. 2019. Since then we have had John's team back on a number of projects: to replace our fireplace mantle and staircase, and repaint our first floor. He also installed new pantry cabinets in our kitchen and new flooring in our basement. John is now our go to guy for all our home repair needs. He's great - can't recommend high enough!"

"Any construction can be stressful, but with Liam and his team I was in good hands. I had some upgrades to one bathroom and a tub to shower conversion in the master bathroom. Liam was clearly very knowledgeable, and his workmanship in both bathrooms was impeccable. He answered all my questions, had great suggestions and was very responsive whenever I needed to contact him. The demo in the master was completed in a day, and the guys cleared everything after they finished. The tile work was meticulous and just beautiful. I highly recommend Liam Neary Construction."

"I am very pleased with the work completed by Crystal Renovations in my home. The company's owner, Pedro Quissalga, is knowledgeable and has a fantastic crew. He implemented the bathroom, laundry, and closet design ideas beautifully. A critical positive factor was communication. Pedro was responsive to my questions and concerns. He kept me informed every step of the way during the construction. Another important factor was their care in keeping the renovation project clean and organized. The team was also mindful of how the construction may impact the rest of the building and did their best to keep the noise level down. I highly recommend Crystal Renovations."

Customers say: Quality work

"We had a fantastic job done by Edian Langa and his crew of Alexis Remodeling. Back in spring 2017, we came out to our back porches and found that over winter, the center post had rotted at one of the splices, right between 1st and 2nd floor decks and the 2nd and 3rd floor decks were badly sagging, like a hammock. I put in a couple posts to shore things up and keep them from further dropping. We had a few contractors take a look over the next couple months and give quotes. One said $80,000, another said $65,000, and another said $50,000. The very high estimates were, while shocking, not that unreasonable because we're on a hill and from the front of the house to the back, we drop 2 whole floors, about 18 feet. So it's about 50 feet from ground level at the back up to the roof of the 3rd floor deck. Also there wasn't really any way to get a bucket machine back there to make pulling the porch apart safer. And there were a couple trees back there too close to the porches. Edian looked at it as well and, initially, looking up at it from the ground, gave a quote of $35,000-$40,000, but as we walked up the stairs for a closer look at each deck, he withdrew his quote and said he wouldn't want to give a quote without seeing some plans from a structural engineer. He gave me a name of someone he'd worked with. We dithered for a while about what to do, and finally decided to have the plans done by the guy that Edian had recommended. We liked the guy because he agreed to put together some plans that would allow us to keep the first floor deck which was in mostly decent shape as well as the outer posts, which would save us some money and to keep the roof over the third floor deck (which extended from the main roof). The plans came back and they were a little complicated and we just didn't go much further from that. One other thing we looked into was how much it would cost to just tear down all but the first floor deck. We got an estimate of I think $8,000 for that from a demolition company. Zoning was an issue and we were worried if we removed the porches we'd lose the right to rebuild them as-is, given that setback requirements (distance from neighbor's property line to our building structure) were certainly much different than when our home was built in 1914. Also we'd been told at the Boston Building Dept that our three-decker home was in a neighborhood that was zoned for 1- and 2-family homes and as such anything we would do to it would be automatically denied and have to go through the Appeals Board. Money overall was also an issue, because, before discovering the failing porches, our plan was to replace our leaking tar and gravel roof. We had enough in a home equity line to do one or the other, but not quite for both the roof and the porches. And since the roof extended over and tied into the porch posts, we couldn't really do one without getting involved with the other. So we were in a quandary and ended up doing nothing for actually another year. Porches were worrisome, but stayed put. Roof continued leaking and we put buckets out. Then one day, I believe it was July, in 2018, we came home to a constable-served citation from Boston Building Dept taped to the door saying we'd done some work without a permit and needed to get one within 30 days. So, things had come to a head. Since we still had the plans that Edian's structural engineer had drawn up in summer 2017, I gave Edian a call and explained the situation. He remembered our porches. He let me track him down at the job he was working on and interrupt him to look at the engineer's plans as well as the citation. He called his lead carpenter, Fernando, over to have a look as well, said, "we've got to help her out with this," and they both conferred and Edian committed then to help us make our 30-day deadline with the city. I made myself as available to him as I could but he pretty much took the lead in dealing with the city, which was a super relief to us. Right off the bat, I knew I was dealing with a guy who was going to help us get through what had become a really difficult situation. He worked up a contract and we got our permit before the deadline, so the city was off our backs. He estimated the job at $55,000 and thought he could start on it in early October 2018. He did start the job then and worked on it continuously right to the finish, that is, wasn't hopping off to other jobs. No, Edian himself was there working with his crew every day. That's a good contractor to have, on the job himself every day. And, this was a very difficult, pain-in-the-butt job to pull off -- up and down the hill with every piece of lumber, pressure treated 6x6's, all the debris, etc. Turned out we needed to replace the outer posts as well as the center post, so the final cost went up to $58,000, but we pretty much expected that would happen and it wasn't a huge extra amount. Edian projected the job would take about 7 weeks and that's just about when he finished up, about the 3rd week of November 2018. Now, back to the roof, which as noted earlier, does extend over the 3rd floor porch. Miraculously, Edian managed to get his roofing subcontractor, to squeeze us in on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It had snowed just a few days earlier that week, but Saturday turned out to be just a bit above 40 degrees and the roofers said they could do the job. In one day, starting at 7:00am and finishing at 4:30pm, Edian's roofers, about 15 or so guys, tore off our whole flat roof, which was nasty coal tar pitch and gravel, replaced some roof decking that was rotted, and reroofed it all with a new rubber roof, aluminum flashing, and sealed the various roof penetrations. Job well done! Reasonable price too for the roof -- $18,000. (We managed to scrape up the money.) We really lucked out hiring Alexis Remodeling for our jobs. Edian is a great guy and has very good people working for him. We're really thankful to him for all his help. Bravo!"

"Brian came to our home to do a tub to shower installation. He was very respectful and reviewed what he would be doing. The project was completed within the time frame we were told. Again, he reviewed what he had done and how to properly care for the shower. It really looks great and we are looking forward to using it. Thank you Brian and rite window team. FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Mattapan, MA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
