" HHM Construction (NC & SC) My experience with HHM Construction, owned by Chris Hines, was deeply disappointing and a significant waste of time. When I first met Chris and the group of men he introduced as his crew, I was genuinely hopeful. As a developer building 30 townhomes, I was glad to see another contractor who looked like me and expressed interest in taking on a major project. Chris stated that HHM Construction had been in business for 10+ years and had completed both residential and commercial work. After our initial meeting, I received a bid roughly 25 days later. I had already done my homework?I had my architectural plans, survey, and had met with the City of Charlotte twice, so I knew exactly what could be built on my property. However, I immediately noticed that Chris listed the wrong square footage for my units. After eight months, No subdivided plot. No references. No follow-through. Nothing but excuses and delays. PLEASE ASK FOR 4 REFERENCES FIRST!! "

"I hired Statesville Masonry & Decks for a covered patio and outdoor fireplace project. While portions of the work were started, the job was never completed despite full payment being made. Specifically, the contractor failed to relocate the outdoor fireplace to the agreed-upon location and did not cut an opening through the patio roof for the chimney, leaving the fireplace unusable. I made multiple attempts over several months to allow the contractor to finish the work. Several completion timelines were provided but not met, and the project was ultimately left incomplete with no refund or resolution offered. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company."

"I can’t even begin to describe how fast to run from this company. Some of the reviews on Google are from current employees. We hired All About Tile based off of Angi’s list reviews. Antonio came promptly and gave us a very detailed quote for our scope of work on a kitchen renovation. I will start by saying that we hit red flags starting a month into the job. Antonio kept adding more and more things into the job that he didn’t account for. Some things that were visible while he was doing his initial estimate. On multiple occasions, vendors that we had hired told us they didn’t feel comfortable that he knew what he was doing or that he had sub contractors that knew what they were doing. We had multiple conversations with him where we did a temperature gauge and set expectations. 3 months into the job he quit mid job when frustrated. Then called us after and asked to finish the job. He didn’t pull proper permits. Our electric wasn’t remotely up to code and he tried to tell us we owed him an additional $15,000. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!"

"I can't say enough about the excellent work that Carolina Contracting did completely demoing an existing wood deck and constructing a new TimberTech deck. The project was challenging. The deck is sixteen feet off the ground with +20 stairs and extensive lighting. It was done on budget and on time. Scott Dean and his team worked hard every day on the project from early morning to dusk. They are true craftsmen. Communication was exemplary throughout the 3-4 week project."
