"I was super impressed with the flagstone work around my pool.  The guy that did it was one of the best I've seen. They worked extremely fast and got the job done.  The only thing I would say is be careful in selecting your pool liner.  I sent pictures of what I wanted but when I saw the small swatch it doesn't really show how it will look and since I am not a pool professional I couldn't tell. It would have been great if I could have seen it in a pool or a picture first.  I was disappointed with the pool color which was partly my fault in selecting it but I couldn't tell from that swatch. Overall the they seemed to be helpful and professional. I liked their employees and subcontractors.

"I purchased Angie's Big Deal for two hours of handyman service because it stated "Deal can be used for everything from minor plumbing and electrical work to shelving and drywall repair."  Since I had a need for some minor plumbing and a variety of electrical tasks, I bought it.  When I called to use it a couple of months ago, a very nice fellow told me that they were no longer doing the plumbing because they ran into too many issues. I asked about the electrical tasks and he said I would need an appointment with an electrician, not the handyman.  Fair enough. He asked if I needed some shelves hung or something for the handyman and I told him I would have to look around the house?  Anyway, I bought some decorative shelves and I called back last week to book the handyman to hang them, but was told they no longer have the handyman service (the handyman fell off a ladder and was badly injured) and that I will have to go back to Angie to get a refund for the Big Deal.
So I'm neutral - they couldn't help the misfortune of the handyman (poor guy!), but it was kind of a pain that the whole thing fell apart as it did. I'm just writing the review in case anyone else is in the same boat, so they'll know to get a refund.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

FAQs for swimming pool or accessories repair or service projects in Mcdonough, GA

A well-maintained, correctly sized pump lasts eight to 12 years. Help it reach the upper end of that range by cleaning the strainer basket, monitoring for unusual sounds, and verifying that the pump’s flow rate matches the filter's specifications. Address leaks or pressure dips quickly—minor fixes now cost far less than a premature replacement later.

Listen for grinding or screeching, watch for breaker trips, and keep an eye on sudden spikes in your electric bill—any one of these signals the pump needs attention. If repairs continue to accumulate or the unit is older than eight years, replacement often makes more financial sense. Contact a qualified pool repair professional immediately to diagnose the issue and prevent further damage to the filter or plumbing.

It’s best to keep your pool pump on while swimming. Keeping the pump on while you swim allows the filter and skimmers to catch debris in real-time, maintaining water features flowing. It’s not mandatory, but weaving swim time into your regular eight-to-12-hour schedule helps maintain crystal-clear water and consistent chemical levels without extra effort.

Start by shutting off the power at the breaker and verifying with a voltage meter. Close the water valves, bleed pressure, and unbolt the old pump. Wire the new unit according to the manufacturer's diagram, glue in the PVC unions, prime the housing, and tighten everything securely. Open the valves, flip the breaker, and watch for steady water flow and quiet operation. If any step feels beyond your expertise, consider hiring a licensed electrician or pool technician.
