"Had used another company previously but was looking to change to another company. Found SealPro on this site, and after reading some reviews and checking their site I called and asked a few follow up questions. Satisfied with the answers I retained SealPro. There price was competitive with what I previously paid, but I can't say if the price was high, low or just right since I didn't get other estimates. Had to wait a while for them to schedule me, and that happened only when I called to inquire as to when they might be coming. I was told that due to the amount of rain they were a bit backed up (reasonable answer) and they could actually schedule me in a couple of days. They showed up on time, worked quickly and cleanly, and the driveway looks as good as one could hope for given what sealing does. The few questions I had when they were on site were answered well, and I felt very comfortable with my choice. Just have to manage your expectations because there were a few imperfections and I actually consulted someone I know out of state who explained to me what causes those imperfections, in that sealing is not a resurfacing and imperfections that were there previously sometimes become more noticeable with a fresh application of sealant."

"We've worked with Eddie and General Brick Designs a few times over the years, since purchasing our first house. We bought an old house which we love, flaws and all. One of its biggest flaws is that the foundation was not originally adequately done to support the house and keep water out, and has been deteriorating over time. The first time we hired him we were in a panic, with water seeping up through our basement floor after heavy rains. We had met with 3 or 4 people, he was the only one who was able to correctly diagnose and fix the problem.  We've hired Eddie and his team to make the repairs that we have needed to over time, and recently worked with him to repair a large section. It was a very tricky, big job in a narrow space on the side of our house. His team carefully and surgically hand dug a trench, in the process working around, and supporting, a chimney and two brand new stone landings into our house. He's an excellent problem solver. He told us he stayed up most of the night before crafting the design and solution, and met with us to walk us through a few different options. He knows how to present facts and information, pros and cons, help you make a decision, with a balance. He's clear about the approach and materials he is using. We're curious people and want to know everything. We're already planning a small patio adjacent to the back of the house, and his vision and design is perfect. He did another small patio for us a few years back, and can do both "practical" repair work like a foundation repair, as well as skilled stone work and design. Being both a mason and an engineer gives him a unique perspective on any job and challenge.  His team is consistently a pleasure to have on our property. They had to remove a cement bib, stone border and gravel on the side of the house, and put it back better than it was before. He also fixed a problematic gutter drain and corrected an issue with overflow in heavy rains. We feel very relieved and have deep peace of mind that our house has been properly structurally fortified and is now able to withstand whatever nature and time will do. Lastly, he's just a good human being who enjoys what he does and is generous with his time and expertise, always happy to answer any questions, super responsive."

"Found this company on yelp and after meeting with a few other contractors we decided to go with them based on peer reviews and pricing. We initially just wanted to have some ac sleeves removed and bricked up since we were planning to upgrade to ductless ac but after meeting with Kamran we decided to get our flat roof refinished as well. They showed up on time and completed the work quickly, while they have had great reviews in the past years I feel that either I am expecting too much or their workmanship is no longer the same as before. I will let the pictures do the talking."

"Not only did he do the kitchen and bath, he refinished my whole basement - including mouldings, painting, electrical, plumbing, with a staircase and beautiful railings, added new windows and removed debris. Very clean worker and showed up on time. He did my driveway and paver stone and did my siding. He put on new gutters and leaders for me. He also provided financing, which was very critical for me. He had 0% financing with his company. They were early every day and the job turned into a wonderful experience with no problems. He was very professional and the guys loved doing the work. It was a very pleasant experience."

"Kevin promptly returned my initial phone call and was quick to come by to take a look at our existing tile floor. With his guidance, we opted to have the tiles refinished rather than having a new floor installed. Given the amount of effort that was necessary to revitalize the appearance of the floor, including sanding down a great many deep gouges, Kevin's price was very reasonable. Beyond his craftsmanship and business practices, Kevin is a true gentleman, which always goes a long way with me. I highly recommend his services. <br />"

"Install stone garden steps on my back yard. I’m a hill that was very steep they did a great jobI hired Chuck and CJ to construct a new driveway and widen it to three cars. It was a very big job and a lot of organizing. They tackled the job like true professionals. Having the correct number of men and equipment, timing cement deliveries was very important. They also installed a Cambridge paving brick apron by one of their master masons. Everything was discussed and approved by us especially the color and style of paving bricks for the apron. We are extremely happy with the service and quality of work. There was always a Bongiorno on the job site making sure everything went as planned.. Thank you Chuck &CJ for another great job.."

"we are so happy with the results. we love how beautiful the yard is now. scott and crew came and worked their tails off. planted shrubs along 3 sides of the yard that were barren before. installed a patio in back under the existing trees also. in addition he took an existing flower bed and replanted them among the new shrubs, what a huge amazing difference I absolutely love how it turned out. scott and crew are easy to deal with and deserve their sterling reputation. I would recommend scott to anyone I know who is looking to transform their dreary yard into a yard where you can be proud of. love love love the new yard. many thanks to scott and his fine crew!!! id like to apologize for the late review this work was done in may and have been lax at writing it. it is well deserved. thank you again scott."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Melville, NY

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
