"I hired Mike Wallace for painting my apartment (studio) and staining the kitchen cabinets. The guys worked quickly and efficiently and I was very pleased with the result and the price. I would recommend them and would use them again."

"Full remodel of 2 baths and kitchen - taking down load bearing wall, opening up staircase, and even adding a doggie door. John and his team can do it all. An old home, when unplanned issues popped up (old termite damage) they were able to fix them without missing a beat. We could not be more pleased with the work, the professionalism, the caring and the attention to the small things as well as the large. John and his team were on time, stayed on budget and made sure my home was straight/clean at the end of every day - nothing left lying around. Best decision I made."

"Really great experience with this company. We needed emergency repairs for a leak initially and they did such a good job we had them do some additional tiling work afterwards. Would definitely hire them again."

"I am very lucky to have found Mettle Contracting; their attention to detail, and their desire to get everything right was a pleasure. Installing the original pocket doors in my prewar apartment was a challenge which they easily met. Mettle also installed a hinged metal lid to my roof that I am also extremely happy with. Their work ethic is excellent, and I would not hesitate to recommend them for any kind of project!"

"My name is John Fabrizio from Merrick. These guys are absolutely great. They have done work for me for 15 years. They are knowledgeable, well-skilled, flexible and accommodating to the customer. They have done numerous projects for me, big and small, and the results have always been outstanding. The owners clearly care about their work. I would never, never use anyone else to take care of my lawn or patio. Also, their design work is great and has added to the value of my home. Best advice I can give you: call these guys first!!!!! Whenever there should be a problem, P0lanco Bros. stands behind their work."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
