"I contacted Steve at Texas Roof and Fence last fall to get bids on my house and a rent house that had hail damage.  he was very responsive to those requests and quickly got me a bid.
I'm probably not the easiest customer to do business with and I wasn't thrilled with some of his terms and conditions so he agreed to changes I requested.  I'm not sure why but it took a few months to get his signed agreement back to me.  My impression is Steve has a lot of balls in the air and sometimes thinks he has done something he hasn't. 
The roof replacement was done last week.  I am still waiting on the barn roof and gutters which were supposed to be done this week but it's not looking like they will be.
Steve set a high bar and high expectations committing to cleaning up daily which his team didn't do.  He also told me when they cleaned up it would be spotless which it wasn't.   Steve said it was unrealistic to expect they would get more than 99% of the nails, etc.
He may have done better than most roofers would have.  I had high expectations based on the strong reviews he had on Angie's List and in Denton and his representations which fell a little short.  Not sure how much of that is because my expectations were too high and some because his crew or he didn't do what he said they would.

"Recently purchased older home on corner lot. The fence on one street side left too much of my property outside my old fence and the old fence left too much of the house 'exposed'. Also needed a new gate installed and old fence replaced and shifted forward on the other side of the house. Mr. Pafford at Excalibur was the better of 2 bids I got from Angie's List businesses. There was some difficulty dealing with my town's permit office but Mr. Pafford hung in there and , despite the hassle and delay, completed the project. He also had to deal with us not understanding the entire process and throwing a coupla last minute changes at him. Our fence looks better than anyone else's in the vicinity! Mr. Pafford seems to be in high demand so, I'd suggest being patient when contacting him. He likely is working on 1-2 other jobs when he begins yours. Details we thought were being overlooked, he took care of at the end of the job. Our ignorance about the process probably caused us to bug him more than we should have. I would hire Excalibur again, and probably will in a season or 2 to work on the remaining fences around my property. Tips? Try to ask about the process up front so there's less confusion. If you are doing repairs - probably no need to get a permit. But many towns require a permit for new construction - try to investigate that before hiring anyone. I'm glad Mr. Pafford (Clayton) had patience to push through the permit process. He could have just abandoned me!"
