"He came when he said he would. His name is James and he's very conscientious and pleasant to work with. He's not trying to sell you a bunch of crap. You don't really need. He had no difficulty giving me the prices for what I needed done and he was very efficient. I would hire him again! "

"Be careful about the warranty on their work - they do not stand behind it. They emphasize a 5 year warranty, but that is for parts only. Anything after 30 days will require both trip fees and labor fees (e.g. you can pay for them to confirm they screwed up). Long story short, they completely undersized the springs on my repair. "Service" manager spent more time gaslighting me on the phone than it would have taken for a tech to come out and quickly see they botched the job. Not only did it cost me a redo from another reputable company, but a replacement for the garage door opener, which stripped out under the load of the door on the undersized springs. Plenty of other great companies in the area, no need to waste time and money with Metro."

"Excellent experience. Ted was in touch right away with a ballpark estimate for the repair. He arrived when he said he would and did a great job. Would hire again!"
Wood garage door at least 50 years old.
Older wooden garage door, probably installed in the 70's. The facing has begun to decay and previous attempts to repair the panels with wood putty have chipped out from weathering.

"I can’t recommend this garage door repair service enough! My garage door was in rough shape—severely sagging and completely off track, looking like it might collapse any minute (picture attached for reference). It was stressful and inconvenient, especially with cars trapped inside. From the first call, they were incredibly responsive and got a technician out extremely fast—way quicker than I expected for such an urgent issue. The tech was professional, friendly, and took the time to thoroughly inspect everything. He clearly explained exactly what had gone wrong (the tracks, springs, and alignment issues), why it happened, and what steps were needed to fix it properly. No upsell nonsense—just straightforward, honest advice. The quote was fair and transparent upfront, with no hidden surprises. He got right to work, fixed it efficiently, and left everything clean and better than before. Now the door operates smoothly, quietly, and looks brand new—perfectly level and sealed. "

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Minneapolis, MN

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
