Small jobs welcome

"Awesome work! We moved into an older home that was in desperate need of bathroom renovation. We tried a local company whose quote far exceeded our budget, and they didn't even try to work with us within our budget! I searched around and came across Action construction- not only was Ron very quick to follow up, but he was confident in assuring the work would be completed. Everything was done within the time line provided, and its beautiful!!!! I would definitely recommend Action Construction for your remodel needs."

"Outstanding! Dom personally responded with a great estimate in minimal time. Mark did a terrific job by promised deadline. He identified potential problems and fixed them on the spot. As electrician was out of town, I will have him come in as soon as he returns. Overall, a great professional job! Recommend Dom's to all.
"

"To Expert House Movers
We wanted to let you know just how pleased we are with the work you did on our house. Before we contacted you, we had several other contractors look at our home. We actually had hired another contractor, who took such a long time, never returned our calls, missed meetings, and took months to even get us our bid. And when that contractor did get us our bid, it was more than doubled our previously discussed budget!
That is when we called you, you came out immediately, was extremely professional, but more importantly, you had a personal interaction with both me and my wife throughout the entire process. You answered all our phone calls, all of our questions, and talked with us throughout the entire process. We felt extremely confident and assured through the entire lift. This house is our dream house and we are going to live in it until we die, and you knew how much it meant to us, and you took care of it as if it were your own.
As you know, my wife ended up in the hospital with some complications with her surgery while you were working on our home, and you took such great care of our house. You knew she was very disappointed that she could not be there, as she designed the foundation window placements and had a big part in the doors and steps. Your crew was so kind and so professional and meticulous, that they knew that two particular windows were very important to my wife. Your crew wanted to get them perfect and asked me some questions about them, that I could not answer. My wife was feeling better, but still in the hospital, and I called her on the phone, while your crew waited for me, as she and I discussed for several minutes the exact placement of the windows. Some minor changes had to be made and your crew could have easily just slapped the two windows in the new location, which was only slightly off of the original plan, and be done with it, but they stopped and pointed out where my wife originally wanted them and the new location difference and wanted to be sure that my wife understood the change, and wanted me to talk to my wife first. I was so very impressed that they made the adjustments on the spot that my wife suggested over the phone. I don’t think any other company would have gone through this much trouble to please their customers!
You also were very respectful of our property, neighbors, and your crew were always very willing to stop and explain the process of what was going to happen next. Not one time did we ever feel like we were in your way. Actually, it was the opposite, we felt like you and your crew were very excited to show us your equipment and how it worked and actually wanted us around so we could see how it all worked and so we could see for ourselves how everything was perfect - and it was!
We will always remember you and think of you so highly. Thank you for making the beginning our home building so easy and off to such a perfect start. There are so many things that can go wrong when redoing a home, and having it go off with such a perfect start gives us such great hope. You have certainly set bar very high for the other contractors that will be coming in for the other parts of the home! Your company and its crew should be very proud of its work. You do a job that is very difficult, complex and tedious, but you do it with care, expertise, and perfection. We actually miss you guys and wish you were around. You are like family to us. We only wish we could rate your service and staff A++ , if there were such a rating.
All our best and blessings,
Randy and Elizabeth
"

"They gave us great service, we had two meetings regarding our needs and bids. We took 4 bids including from the big boys like Pella and Anderson. The bids were comparable but what we really liked was they did not subcontract out the installation, these were their employees that had been with them (15-22 years; so we knew the installation would be done correctly and with a life time warranty that was transferable we knew they would stand behind their work.
Justin was here a couple of times a day during the removal and installation and they worked well with another contractor that was doing a seperate project. The crew was on time and very professional. Clean up was great and took care not to hurt any of the plants or landscaping.
We will use them again and would highly recommend them to others"

"The work started right away, I had observed his work on a similar style of home and was impressed with the work. The owner James stated that the work could start in a couple of days and that they would need to station a large garbage container on the property to hold all of the waste taken off of the home. The worked started on time and went well during the tear down. Once the reconstruction started the signs of trouble soon started. Wood siding was placed on the home that was not cured and it began to leak sap. They ran out of materials and tried to use left over materials from other jobs which I had to ask them to take off the home. The rock work on the lower part of the home seems to be quite good for now. Once the siding was on the home I noticed a few places where flawed siding was used and I had to ask them to replace it. The doors that were put in had to be replaced and reset a couple of times because of poor quality and not fitting properly. The front door that was put in was done free of charge eventually because of all the other flaws and the screen door put in did not fit and when I asked that it fit right the workers began to HACK away at the framing with an electric saw, it looked like a beginner did the work and did not care how it turned out. I had to call the owner who quickly responded and got the fix in place. The worker began to have a fit and through items and I asked that he not return to my home. Once the siding was on they began to stain it and the trouble continued. The individual they sent over had no experience with staining and he made a mess of the project, which we are still fighting with today. Some spots were runny and others did not take because of sap running down the boards. The owner said that he would come back and redo the staining after it cured, that has been two years. I have called three or four times with little result, the only thing that they have done so far is to come back and power wash the siding, never to return (this was a year ago). I called James this spring (2014) and he said that they would return and get it done. I called today because the firm is in the news for not having a license in ND in good standing. I called the state office for their license and was told that they have never had a proper license and they were issued a fine. I called James again today and he said that he paid the fine, which was verified by the state office, and he would come out and fix the issue as soon as he could practice again in ND. I am not hopeful. You can go to the Attorney General of ND website to check to see if he has a proper license prior to hiring. The bright spot is that James seemed concerned about my being happy with the work and that things get fixed in a timely manner. He responded to my concerns quickly initially but as mentioned above not so much. Once the garbage unit was removed there was evidence of drinking that went on while his staff was at my home, tops to bottles found under container once gone. I am still trying to get them to come and touch up the spots that are flawed. These are spots where the stain did not take or where streaks were left. James continues to respond to my calls and promises to finish. After $40,000 I hope so. I guess I just trusted a bit too much. Overall I think that James wants to do a good job but unless you have the time to micromanage the work and check everything be cautious about letting them work on your home. Parts of what they do is great but it is the little things that bring me to write this review. I have worked construction in the past and am well aware of what goes on with crews but this was over the top. One final note is that you should never pay anyone the full amount prior, I paid in small steps and was able to get them to complete the overall project, this final step is really touch-up work but I did pay for it so I expect it to be done. If it gets done I will update this review.
"

"Went very well, I would certainly hire them again. Did A Great Job, Although a little higher priced than some of the other contractors in the area. They really pay attention to detail and use products that last. One thing is worth mentioning and that is a lot of other contractors might be less in price but price in the industry truly defines quality."

FAQs for garage building service projects in Minot-afb, ND

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
