"The report was very professional and detailed. The response was fast. The price was expensive but due to the detail, understandable. I wouldn't hire again due to multiple requests for a completed report and estimate for the mold remediation and just getting robotic replies that didn't answer my questions."

"We paid $1300 for tear out of part of a wall, taking out a wall-length workbench, tear out of ceiling drywall where the duct work was, and mitigation. We paid $1700 for the remediation. The insulation/drywall contractor did a great job. I would give her a plug, but can't remember her name. I did have to buy a higher quality paint, though, since the contractor's choice wouldn't cover the hideous pink garage walls we had. While Alan gave the estimates, Terry supervised the work. I am satisfied with amount and quality of work for the price. We needed the work done ASAP and they complied."

"I was happy with the cost for all the services provided. Getting the carpets done was an all day event so plan accordingly. It's also surprisingly loud so a day out is a good idea too. We had the ducts done the week after the carpets and it didn't take as long as we'd been told to expect. As an extra advantage, Coit was able to get our rugs cleaned and back to us sooner than they'd originally thought so that we could accommodate weekend guests."

"Last June the Yukon River swelled up north, came down south and flooded in Raw High Creek, which is behind us, and it flooded this whole where we live, It was a four mile area which was flooded in The flood got our basement really bad. It is not just that the flooding but the pressure taps that river the water in from the well loaded and the pipe broke and it was constantly pumping water from our well into our basement as well How much of it was floodwater and how much of it is the well water we were not sure. It did not come into the house. There was 3 feet of water in our basement. The came in did our emergency clean up. They came in and fist of all took everything out of the basement, which was a huge chore. Books and everything had crashed into the water, mud all over the place. Part of it was septic backup as well. They came in rescued it out, demolished the dry wall and everything that had moisture content up to the ceiling. They had to clean under the studs. Then they come in and they had to clean it with power washers. They have these huge things, which has a continual flow of water to power wash everything. Then they have to go through a cleanup with disinfect. Then it takes about another week with fans on to dry out the studs and concrete blocks. We had electricity, but no furnace and no air-conditioning and it was really hot. Being June heat had set in After all this cleaning you could not tell afterwards there was anything. There were no watermarks, there was no mud paint, and you could not tell that the same place was in 3 feet of water. There are several little franchises around this area here. I don’t know if each franchise works the same way. It took a day for the franchise that came and cleaned the basement In order to fix the pipe we had to call plumbers and well people. After they did the clean up work we had to call the construction people to re-do everything pretty much how it was. We had to get a furnace contractor, and we had to get the people to do the pressure tank, the water heater, and the stem. The furnace was the most expensive. Insurance does not want us to change anything. They only want everything back to normal. SERVICEMASTER does carpet cleaning but some of them do even disaster clean up. The basement looks nice and empty. More was thrown out. I wasn’t here to over see. Things that were not in the water, or something that would not mold they brought that upstairs and we stored it in the upper level of the house. There were certain things that got thrown out that we are kind of scratching our heads over. You cannot blame them for that. They did not have any other directions. The cleanup they did was top condition. They were here within a week after we reported. The water had receded in a week time the problem was that it flooded again. The weekend that they came to clean it out they had to wade through knee-deep water from the house to the dumpsters in the driveway. So the conditions were not favorable at all, Water would still start to sweep back into the house. We were trying to put sand bags while they were trying to plug the drains. They were working under horrible conditions. They had no boots or anything. The water had gone completely down and we just had a skimmer of mud in the basement. When they had actually came back to do it the creek was over full again. So they were wearing salvage bags around their feet to save their shoes and somebody had to go for boots for all of them. The highest was 3 feet of water in the basement. My husband stuck a yard stick into the water. Water was surrounding the house and we had to move to higher grounds so that the vehicles would not get water logged. There was no back flow valve. We had a basement where we had put in the plumbing. Had we not done that we would not have been this badly off. The other houses did not have basements and they just hardly had only couple inches of water. The SERVICEMASTER came in within a week and did it quickly It took my husband a few days just to figure out whom to call, get estimates and stuff. So they were ready and able with their crew to come out as soon as possible. They cleaned it all out, scrubbed it all down, and disinfected the place. They worked well. As for price I don’t have anything to compare it with. I believe that this won’t happen again. The price to me sounds very high but they had a lot of people over to work. So probably it is reasonable for the damage. and for the number of people who had to come in and work. I did not do the price shopping. My husband did it. They came cheerfully and worked. They were young guy and they acted professional in trying to get things done. If it happened again we would know a little bit better on what we need to do. We might call around for other estimates but they would be on the list for consideration."

FAQs for toxicity and mold removal projects in Missouri Valley, IA

Remediation should keep mold from returning as long as the moisture source is eliminated. Fix leaks, control humidity, and replace water-damaged materials, then schedule periodic inspections to stay ahead of new growth. With those safeguards, your home can stay mold-free for the long haul while protecting both health and property value.

Most pros recommend leaving the home while they work on mold remediation. Removing mold stirs up airborne spores that can aggravate respiratory issues, and contractors can work more efficiently in an empty space. A short, temporary relocation keeps everyone in your family safe and lets the crew finish the job without interruption.

Mold shouldn’t return once the moisture problem is fixed. Stay vigilant: repair leaks right away, keep humidity below 50 percent with a dehumidifier placed in damp areas, and improve ventilation where needed. Routine checks for leaks and mold and quick repairs go a long way toward keeping your home mold-free.

Mold spores can trigger nasal congestion, throat irritation, coughing, wheezing, eye irritation, or skin rashes. People with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems often feel the effects sooner and more intensely. Some molds also release mycotoxins linked to serious respiratory or neurological issues. Swift remediation and better ventilation are the best defenses.
