"Montclair township has a requirement for landlords to perform a visual lead paint inspection on a regular basis. Christian did this work for me, walking through my apartments and letting me know what spots needed to be touched up with paint. Then he provides a certificate to send to the town. Christian is communicative, reliable, prompt, and professional. He turned the certificate around really fast, too. I can’t recommend him more highly to anyone who needs environmental inspections in their home."

"I contacted Doug Ferry on very short notice after my home inspector found what he thought might be asbestos in the HVAC ducts carved into the concrete foundation of a home that I was in the process of purchasing in Willingboro, NJ. I called him after hours and he returned my call in minutes. The following day Doug was in the property performing his tests and found asbestos not only in the HVAC ducts but in two different flooring tiles (which he found on his own without my having to ask.) He also suggested testing some ceiling tiles but those turned out to be clear. Long story short: Doug gave me the information I needed in order to make my purchase decision quickly, courteously and with exemplary professionalism. If you suspect that you might have or be looking to buy or sell a home that might contain asbestos look no further. I could not recommend his services more highly."

"Evan was very helpful throughout the process of correcting a water issue in our basement that led to mold growth. He was very thorough in his inspection throughout the entire home and was knowledgeable. He took the time to explain all the results once they were in and provided a detailed report. He also helped lead us to a trusted remediation company to remove and treat the mold in the basement."

"We hired IEC after doing some demolition work and having concerns that asbestos may have been in the materials we removed. Rob returned my call immediately on a Sunday afternoon, and he was able to calm my fears. He even gave me some tips for things I could do to safely clean everything in the meantime before he came out to take samples to the lab to be tested. When he came out to our house he was professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. We discussed what samples to take and he explained the process in detail. When he left he secured the area to limit the amount of dust and again went over things I can do to safely clean up and limit exposure, all while calming my nerves! Fortunately, a few days later immediately after he received the results from the lab, he let us know that there were no asbestos fibers detected! The relief alone was worth every penny! I highly recommend IEC and canâ t say enough good things about my experience with them. IEC is professional, thorough, knowledgeable, and their cost is reasonable and worth every penny. Thank you, Rob and IEC!"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Mount Holly, NJ

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
