"Crossroads poly lift crew drilled into my ductwork twice. I had to hire a third party to jack hammer my concrete to remove and replace the pipe. This cost twice as much as original work. I now have a third company putting in foundation piers. This third company has shown me voids where Crossroads failed to poly lift the foundation. Thus, they did not fulfill the work contract. I am considering legal action against Crossroads."

"Our downstairs bedroom and bathroom were freezing cold. A BSI insulation engineer came in to size up the problem and provide a solution. They insulated the basement and crawl space of our 1893 Plantation home and now our said rooms are warm and inviting. We are so grateful to them and will save a ton of money in heating costs in the years to come. So happy and so grateful. What a great company."

"Shannon quoted the perfect camera solution and installed a 3 camera system in my home. Very courteous and professional work, expertly installed. Took the time after installation to walk me through the many features of my system and ensure I was comfortable with the operation. Even came back the following week and installed solar panels for all three cameras and ensured those were also working perfectly. Was on call for any additional questions I had. Overall great experience, very knowledgeable professional, would recommend to anyone for any job. You will be highly satisfied with his work and attention to detail."

"I had been a customer of Custom Touch for 25 years. It was a great company, prior to about 2012. Several years ago, a technician from CTI winterized the system, but the schedule was delayed until November - temperatures were in the low thirties when the technician came to do the Winterization. The following Spring we discovered that an issue had been caused due to attempting to switch off the system when there had been a freeze that morning. The technician must have known that he had caused this issue, but said nothing. CTI's response was 'that employee is no longer with us'. This year, I was told that I needed a $450 repair, as the system could not be switched on again due to failure of the 'pipes and attachments'. I called CTI as there were several instances of miscommunication and appointment mis-alignments. I expressed my dissatisfaction at how the appointment chain and quote for repair was handled, and was told 'that employee is no longer with us. I was a little suspicious about the repair, and got another company to come have a look. Imagine my surprise when I was told that there was nothing wrong, no repairs were needed. The system was switched on without issue."

"I was recommended this company from a fellow person in my community. I text the number on a Saturday and received no reply, EVER. I ended up calling them a few days later (Thursday). I specifically told them I wanted someone to come out and give me a quote because we didn’t know what we were dealing with. They never said there was a service fee to send someone out. They told me they could do Tuesday and it would take 20-30 mins. The owner told the technician that we wanted an install and they came in and spent 2:45 here. No one gave me a quote they just said they were going to Lowe’s. I told them let me know if there was anything as I had to go back into a meeting (I work remotely.) They installed 1 line with a T to splice the line to the fridge form the RO system. They charged me $150 each for what says two lines! They did remove the old one and add a cap to it, but that just comes with installing a new one. You have to remove it to install the new line. It took TWO people nearly three hours to remove a single line and cap it off, and to install a line with a T. They did not have to drill anything as the holes were already in the floor! They broke a glass on accident, no worries. They picked up a part at Lowe’s that was missing items and had to go back for more parts. They then cut 45 mins off the 2:45 time. They did not clean up all of the glass they broke. They did not clean up all the water on the floor downstairs or in the cabinet. They did however soak up the water in the cabinet with a swiffer heavy dust pad. They did not ask for a towel or use the 2 rolls of paper towels to clean up the mess. They later told us that the charge details on the invoice don’t matter and to ignore them after we questioned them. $150/line somehow translated to $150/hr. If you do give a quote, and charge for it, try removing that total from the bill total if you win the job, as that is common practice. Just a suggestion. Most of this I can look over, but not listening when I specifically wanted a quote and then Charging nearly $400 is outrageous. Money is tight for most of the working class and even more so after buying a new home and a whole home water system. This should have been a simple quote that could have turned into an install. But they did not properly communicate to their employees and then it took much longer than it should have with two people. I am very pro small business and I am VERY disappointed!"

"If you are looking for stellar service in the area of residential mold remediation, look no further than AdvantaClean Midwest!  AdvantaClean.com My technicians (Jose Garcia & Kyle) are some of the hardest workers that I have seen in a long time. I had a very serious mold problem in the crawl space of my home. It was causing me to have severe headaches, runny eyes, and respiratory problems. When they began work on my home, they put me at ease by letting me know "not to worry that they would take care of the problem". They were absolutely correct! The very first day after they started to work, I noticed a marked change from what they had accomplished after only one day. I was actually able to sleep through the entire night without waking up and without a major mold headache incidence. These two individuals left a marked impression on me and were most professional and knowledgeable in their field. They spoke to me in layman's terms that even a total beginner that knew nothing about mold would understand. They are definitely a credit to the company that they represent. I would wholeheartedly recommend this company - and in particular these two representatives."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Muncie, IN

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
