Tar paper is used by Robson as the underlayment for all our roofs here in Saddlebrooke. Tar paper dries out, cracks, and then leaks develop. Nails that hold the wood batten strips create holes in the tar paper and as the tar paper dries out, the nail holes create more leaks. A new underlayment product from APOC offers a 30-Year Warranty and does not contain any tar paper. It is called APOC Weather-Armor FT3. As the nails from the battens penetrate the Weather-Armor FT3, the Weather-Armor squeezes around each nail and seals it permanently. APOC Weather-Armor FT3 does not dry out and crack like tar paper. Even though we thought we had no leaks, it turned out that they found 4 leaks in our 13 year old tar paper roof. They replaced all the rotted wood and repainted it to match our existing overhang. I think we dodged a bullet by having the new roof installed now before we had any leaks that penetrated into our home interior. "Kevin arrived at my home and conducted the estimate for my roof repair. He was and is very professional and knew exactly what was causing my roof to leak and explained in detail what had happened. Mike and his sons are the team that repairs the roof, they are professional, courteous and work like hell. I mean they work like there's no tomorrow. Not only do they do good work in repairing the roof, they pick up every shingle that has fallen to the lground around my property. Mike was to replace my swamp cooler and when he went to Lowes where I purchased the cooler from it was damaged. Mike negotiated a new upgraded swamp cooler for me at a lower price.
