"Called Lifeline to find a leak in wall behind the fridge. Discovered it was an improperly capped feedline to the icemaker outlet for fridge. They replaced the cap and stopped the leak. We discovered the the house had in the floor main water feed lines, and the plumber had to knock out holes in several places before he found the line leading to the icemaker line. But after all that, he chose to not cut the line and cap it there.
So he made a mess trying to find the leak and a solution, did fix it, but cost me another couple hundred to get a handy man in to fix the drywall holes.
But really bothered me was he kept pitching to me to re-plumb the entire house as the lines were old and being in the concrete slab was going to continue to be a problem, even after I politely told him it was not a solution I was interested in right now. Didn't take no for an answer.

"This past weekend, my third floor toilet/sinks were backing up due to a lost plumbing snake. I called SmartChoice and spoke with Carlos this past Sunday. He came out Sunday night and looked at the situation. He returned Monday with Travis and tried to get the snake out but couldn't (He removed the toiled, put in a camera and tried taking it out that way). He finally returned this morning (with Travis) and finished the job. He cut into the wall into our garage and pulled it out. I really appreciated the fact that Carlos tried multiple ways to get the snake out before cutting into the wall. He did not immediately pick the most expensive option.
During all 3 visits, Carlos (and Travis) were very professional. They were on time, very detailed with their explanation on what needed to be come. I called multiple plumbers last Sunday before choosing SmartChoice. They had the best price. I HIGHLY recommend this company. I will definitely call them in the future if I have more plumbing issues.

"This was a major project that took about one month to complete - much faster than most contractors. Jose always made good suggestions and often saved us money by repairing/painting instead of replacing. The job was started early and finished in less time than we expected. "I reached out to multiple contractors to evaluate and propose a solution for a complex structural problem related to my garage. Specifically, a main structural beam on my covered patio was not properly secured to the structure of the garage. Poor workmanship by a previous contractor had led to leaks in the roof above the beam resulting in rot of the wood framing underneath which eventually led to the failure of the connection between the beam and the framing members in the garage. The beam dropped several inches and damaged the siding and trim on the garage. I called Kephart Handyman after reading their reviews on Angie's List. Barry promptly replied to my inquiry and came to my home to evaluate the problem. After taking some pictures he came back to me quickly with a proposal. There was some uncertainty on what would actually need to be done depending on what his team found when they removed some of the damaged wood. In the end, Barry's team removed and replaced all of the damaged structural framing, roof decking and shingles and added a new support column for the beam. They wrapped the beam to match others on our patio. The quality of their workmanship was very good and the team cleaned up as they did their work. In the end, the job took five days instead of the quoted three days and involved unplanned removal and repair of drywall inside the garage. Barry stood by his estimate and did not charge extra for the added time it took to make the repairs. Overall, I was very satisfied with their work and their ability to find a solution to this complex repair. I would definitely hire Kephart Handyman again and would recommend them to others looking for a professional handyman service. David in Katy"

"After a fire, we needed to replace the flooring in our entire home. This was a huge job, along with sheet rock from the fire. Aquiles and Manuel were great to work with.. The flooring we chose needed extra care, and they did the job perfectly. Friendly and super professional, They even did not mind working around our small noisy dogs.. "I had problems in our back yard with water pooling during heavy rainfall and was concerned about possible flooding of our house and garage.  We have a pool and concrete patio, so I knew this was not going to be an easy fix.

Rob came out and spent about 2 hours looking over our situation and talking about options.  After he left, he came up with a single plan with components so we could proceed one step at a time, then wait and evaluate the success of that step or do a number of steps at once. 

Since we we were very concerned about the possibility of flooding, we elected to proceed with regrading, adding an exterior drainage line from the garage to the street, replacing an existing line from the house to the street, adding catch basins and re-grading areas around the house and garage.

The work was done at the days and times arranged; the crew was very considerate and professional and the work was beautiful.  

Most importantly, we have had several very heavy rainfalls and the solutions we had implemented by Works By Rob are performing as well as we had hoped.   We had no accumulation of water and no worries!"

"Absolutely delighted with their subcontracted installers. Professional, clean, helpful, respectful of my belongings. The Floor It Today salesperson, Sean, came out the first time and took very low measurements, thus making his price much lower than other bids we received. When this was pointed out, he came out, measured again, raised his price but didn't change his measurements. The third time, we measured ourselves, called Sean out to re-measure and finally got the numbers right. Our biggest fear was that he would short order on material, installation would begin and we would have to wait until additional material arrived. Very difficult to give a rating on this company as we were not so pleased with Floor It Today but cannot say enough good things about their installers"
