"The official reasons that my family sought a complete driveway replacement were 1) the slope of the apron caused damage to cars if drivers did not enter/exit very slowly and/or at an angle, 2) the damage from tree roots and age caused massive overall cracking over the entire length of the driveway, and 3) in one such damaged area, the concrete tilted toward the northwest foundation of the house and water would pond there during any level of rain - or use of the sprinkler. We also wanted to add a walkway and widen the driveway to ten feet along the side of the house to accommodate a large pickup truck and trailer. Now, the property is on a busy city street and the driveway is more than 1500 square feet. It curves around to the back of the house where there is a turn around and a double carport. So, you can imagine that quotes for replacement were extremely daunting for us (we were expecting to pay $12k-$15k). We quite literally saved for more than a year for this particular project.
