"I called on a Friday and they were able to send somebody on Monday morning. I'm not sure if it was because they contacted me through Homeadvisor or because I was hesitant to have them come out without even a ballpark price, but they waived the trip charge. I told them that I had a leaking shower faucet and expected that the cartridge just needed to be replaced. I received a phone call and text 40 minutes before the tech's arrival as promised. Jake showed up on time and offered to wear the booties everybody brings these days, but between the time he spent sitting in his van and then writing up a quote after glancing at the faucet, it was at least half an hour before I even had the quote. My choices were $412 for the cartridge or $700+ to replace at least the valve and maybe more and then repair drywall. I assume the quote was written this way to trigger the upsale, but I will be selling my home soon and the drywall that didn't even need to be removed for this repair is already being replaced as part of a separate repair project. I was surprised that he didn't bring shower cartridges on the van since it seems like a common repair, and I'd specifically told them that's what I needed. He was gone for over an hour to get one from the supply center. Once he returned, he turned off the water, then went back to the van for a bit. Once he started on the faucet, it took maybe half an hour to swap out the cartridge. When he was done, Jake had me sign a few times, then emailed me an invoice with no text describing the service performed, just the total. I told him I needed some explanation of what was done, and he re-sent it with a blurb explaining a Moen cartridge was replaced and has a one year warranty. About an hour after Jake left, I received a follow up phone call to confirm everything was completed to my satisfaction. I have no complaints about the work, everybody was pleasant enough to deal with, and I know they create their quotes straight from a pricebook, but 3 hours and $412 to complete a 30 minute repair that requires a part costing no more than $50 just seems excessive."

He arrived at our home on time and quickly diagnosed two problems. Although he had another service call to make at 5:00 pm, he returned at 7:30 with the required parts (three in all-two from his warehouse and one from an auto parts store) and finished the job. "It went great. I first noticed the problem when I went to take a shower the Thursday night before the Memorial day weekend. I had to work the next day and ICE COLD shower awaited me! So after I suffered through hypothermia ... The next morning I contacted a company via their website about my problem but the website and quot;request for serviceand quot; page was not working. Then I did a quick search to see who else in the area might be able to help me. I noticed Golden Rule was close to my house and put in a request for service on their website just like the first company. Within an hour I has a call back and a service technician at my house within 4 hours, and this apparently is not rush service, if they are available they come, even on weekends or holidays and it's not extra $$$. Also, I was at work the day after the hot water heater stopped working they gave me a window between 12 and 4pm they could be there but said they would give me a 30 minute courtesy call, which was perfect because it takes me about that long to get home from work. Made arrangements at work, got the call, headed home. Technician arrived shortly after greeted me friendly and looked me straight in the eyes asked me about the problem, wrote stuff down, put on some shoe covers to protect my house against dirt from his shoes and asked me to show him the water heater.
I took him to the heater and he looked at it, looked at the manual, made some phone calls, watched it got through a cycle of trying to light but not lighting the pilot light. I asked him some questions about what he thought was going on, I'd already sort of explored what might be happening/ not happening. We answered all my questions, gave me some options what he thought was going on, quoted some estimate prices and estimated times for repair. I also have a cat that is very and quot;personableand quot; and she came down to see the technician. I offered to put her away but he said it was fine she stayed and he even patted her and he acted like it was no big deal. Then he went to his car to make some calls to find the part I needed, then went and got it across town. He returned, replaced the part and it started working. I had hot water by the evening :) It took about 3.5 hours in total. This was same day service! I was very impressed at their professionalism, quality, friendliness of the technician! I would highly recommend!
