"My husband and I were so patient, and gave BRC every opportunity and benefit of the doubt. A few warnings for others: ~The staff will not show up, we the customer had to follow-up half way into the day to see if they are showing up. ~A timeline of 1-2 weeks took 5 weeks Honestly it’s still not complete. An example is the ceiling. We can see the drywall through the coating, but we don’t even want to deal with it anymore. ~The carpet was not what we wanted, AT ALL. We text the owner pictures and got something completely different. Also, the cheapest pad when we asked for the thickest they make. We weren’t shown the carpet choice until they already installed it. The owner said due to the pandemic selection was limited. ~The owner lost the paint chip. We had to find a new one for the contractors. ~Left dry pieces in the utility closet that we now have to dispose of. ~Some special design over the sump pump was to be removal, only the top lid removes. Replacing will be a blast. ~The final straw the the final day the finishing touches (after already being finished) was due to take place. It was a he said, she said, who was coming show. Finally at 4pm someone arrived. ~Even better is the owner and manager has not contacted for a follow up from being complete. He has not done a final walk thru. We made the mistake of paying him before it was finished. Quality=average after requesting multiple fixes. They did not self identify any issues. The company over promises and under delivers."

"From the moment Jim showed up for the estimate, I could tell he was someone I wanted to work on my home. He took his time measuring, was quick to give a quote and responsive to all questions throughout the process. On the day of installation, he and Jerry arrived as they said they would – and for the rest of that week, they came on time and did their work. Exactly what a homeowner wants. There were no calls to say, “Hey, we’re running behind on another job.” They did what they said they would do. Now, for the results. As a Real Estate Appraiser, I've seen plenty of shoddy work from sub-par contractors and I am pleased to report there was no sub-par work here. The floors came out beautifully. Smooth, straight and without error. The trim work was exceptional as well. (Though they caulked the joints and nail holes on the woodwork, do be prepared to add a bit of spackle and a dab of paint – which would need done regardless of who installed the trim.) I highly recommend McCool Floors for your next flooring project!"

"Badly. Craftsmanship was poor and didn't finish the job. Damaged the new vanity doors that he built on installation. When asked to repair the doors and come back we never heard back from him again."

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in New Albany, OH

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
