Customers say: Quick response

"Owner showed up with a small crew and a crazy new piece of equipment. Excavated down below my foundation and to the septic tank. Came into the basement and jackhammered the floor. Removed all the old terracotta pipe inside and out. Installed all new PVC pipe all the way down to the septic tank. Put gravel down to protect the new pipe. Poured concrete in the basement to close the floor back up. Only took one day to get the new pipe in. Came back the next to close the ground and floor up. Great experience, basement no longer smell like sewage."

"My experience started off by meeting Jeff, one of the owners of Prestige Paving. He met me at my house one afternoon to provide me with an estimate. Jeff arrived right on time and began measuring the existing driveway. He really took his time to make sure I understood exactly what services he was providing as well as understanding what it was that I wanted as a customer. The estimate was provided in a timely manner and the pricing fell right in the middle of the other two estimates that I had received. When it came time to begin work, the crew lead by Jeff's brother John, showed up on time as scheduled. This crew was top notch. They wasted no time in tearing out the old driveway. They were professional, knowledgeable, took care not to damage anything they were not replacing. They went above and beyond in installing the drainage. The paving work looks flawless. This crew did everything that Jeff and I agreed upon and more without issue. No additional charges, no shortcuts, no mess. I watched them lay down the new asphalt and I am confident the 2-1/2 and 1-1/2 was the minimum thickness provided. These guys are not out there to take their customers for a ride. They do what they say they are going to do and more. These guys are professionals. They care about the work they do. I highly recommend Prestige Paving."

"Tremendously. I've had this gravel driveway done several times over the years and DC did the best job by far. Perfect edges. Nice and thick with a very even spread of material. The wall was removed without any trampling of the ground cover in front of it. I'm a little shocked to be honest. Kind of like the wall just disappeared. Pretty funny actually. Lastly, it wasn't in the contract but Dave added some mulch to even out the soil where the wall stood. Just great work with detail I didn't expect. Would definitely hire again."

"Called Greg and he came out a couple of days later and gave me an estimate. I asked if he could finish the job by a certain date as I was going on vacation. Greg said that this would not be a problem. I called Greg and hired him to do the work a couple days later. About a week passed and Greg said he would be starting Friday morning. Friday morning at 8AM the crew was here working diligently. The crew removed an existing paver patio; prepped and formed the patio to my specification; installed the aggregate; then poured 5 yards of concrete in 1 day. My 80-foot driveway is newly paved. They used a bobcat to transfer the concrete from the street to the back of my house. They made 10-15 trips and not a single drop of concrete on my driveway! Greg stopped in Friday late afternoon to check in on the crew and my satisfaction. The crew returned Monday (they were going to work Saturday but we had storms all weekend). The crew fixed the yard where the bobcat tore up the sod. They used a great grade of top soil, seeded and covered with mushroom mulch. What a fantastic job. The crew was friendly, attentive, detail oriented and focused on getting the job done. If you need work done, do not bother calling anybody else."

"I contacted several contractors to request quotes for our project. Jason Palat was definitely the quickest to respond, and he offered the best price. He continued to provide excellent responsiveness leading up to and throughout the job. When I sent messages, he typically responded very quickly, usually within an hour. Once work began, it quickly became apparent that Jason and his crew are experienced and work very well together. They quickly had the remnants of the old retaining wall removed and carefully excavated in preparation for the new wall. Jason gladly answered all of our questions (and we had many) about the entire planning process. When we changed our plan and decided to replace our old steps as well, Jason and team quickly responded and made arrangements as needed for additional materials with no interruption or delays to the project. Maybe the most notable observation was the care and precision that Jason and his team put into their work, constantly checking and re-checking to make sure that everything was in alignment, level, and square. These guys are skilled craftsmen. When the job was finished, the whole area was thoroughly cleaned. The many minor details that we had discussed along the way were all addressed. And the adjustments to the price that resulted from plan changes and extra requests that we made along the way were handled fairly and clearly. Overall, it was a very professional job. And we’re extremely pleased with the results."

"CRS did a great job on replacing a leaking gas line to my home - all work - trenching, new lines, risers, working with People's Gas to get new meter and house-tie-in completed, backfilled, seeded, and straw-cover done in one day. I very much appreciated the high quality work and the speed in which things got done."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in New Kensington, PA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
