"Caleb was very professional and punctual. He arrived early and took his time to troubleshoot and explain everything to me. Although we did not hire him to complete any work, we will seek him out in the future if needed. It turns out that our issue is not an electrical issue."

"Naturally it was the coldest (20 degrees) day of the year so far, we had our first snow, I had just had a decorative plaster swirled into the ceiling, and I had just put up sheetrock and gotten the walls painted. Supreme came and overcame all these difficulties to my intense and grateful satisfaction, replaced the wires and avoided tearing out whole chunks of wall and ceiling (which HVAC said had to be done). Mr Peter was excellent at trouble shooting the situation and he correctly predicted which parts of the wire had to be replaced. They did have to cut 2 holes in the wall but they did so neatly so that all I have to do is a little sanding. I was made aware of the issues with the wiring on Tuesday, contacted Angie's list and in 1/2 hour Mr Peter called me. The repair was done on Friday. I am so glad I contacted Angie's List and that Supreme Electric is one of their service providers."

"I feel sorry for amyone that had an opportunity to work with this family owned, local business, and wind up using someone else. Ive had an amazing experience with Jay, his brother Serge and the crew that worked on my home for 3 weeks. They have worked closely with my designer and painted the entire home. We also found out that they do carpemtry too and had them do the ceiling trays in the great room. I will be recomending them to all of my family. Terrific job LHI!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in North East, MD

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
