I chose not to have him replace the cap. I would probably hire again but annoyed that he seemed like he did not want to replace my chimney cap."

It was helpful to see the camera images of the condition of the chimney. I learned that one of our chimneys has some flue tile weathering and eventually it could use a chimney liner. The other chimney has creosote build-up, and we were advised to use a spray on the wood we burn to help with this, plus we should consider de-glazing the creosote. Peter was very informative and friendly, and I was happy with his clean-up. The whole process took about 2 hours. I plan on continuing with Professional Chimney for our regular cleanings."

"Tyler and Zachary from Century Chimney arrived on time and kept my house as clean as it was before they got here. They used a camera to inspect the inside of the liner, which no other sweep had done before. They found exposed wood that was charred, and an approximately 6" hole in the middle of the system! I had been using this fireplace for several years before I met the guys from Century!! My last sweep didn't find any of these issues. Tyler and Zach just may have saved our lives. "Highly recommended! I called with multiple questions- needed tuckpointing on two chimneys, chimney caps to keep out the raccoons, and an inspection/cleaning of an old wood-burning stove. Scott came out for an inspection and gave me great advice- namely that I would need major repairs and updates to safely use the stove- so he advised me against spending the money to clean it unless I intended to commit to the rest of the project. Scott took his time and explained quite a bit to me. I was in a bit of a hurry to get the chimney work done because I had my new roof on hold waiting for the chimney repairs. Brian came out within a day or two to give me an estimate, then was able to sneak me into his schedule for the next week. Each time they said they would be there, they were. And everything was thoroughly cleaned up before they left! I have two awkwardly placed chimneys and had received multiple repair estimates. Some refused the job, others gave me estimates which were much higher than Good Knight's Sweep. One contractor wanted me to rent a manlift for $1000. Scott and Brian set up scaffolding- off of my upper deck for one of the chimneys, around the power lines for the other- and somehow made it look easy. Brian did the tuckpointing and replaced the crowns on two chimneys- the work was pristine, and they even went back up at the end of the day to clean up a small drip that I never would have noticed. Scott dropped a mothball in the chimneys to keep the raccoons out, then replaced the caps. I have had multiple consultations on how to get the raccoons out long enough to cap the chimneys, all were ridiculously expensive and involved trapping/killing the raccoons- so this solution was amazing. Fees for the caps were also lower than other quotes I received. Finally, I just want to say that these are such nice guys! Scott removed an old antenna that was on my roof and hauled it away. Brian cleaned up some unsightly discoloration on the side of my home that the HVAC guys had left. They could have easily said "sure, I'll do it for $50" or whatever- but both things were done really just as a favor. I'm not someone that normally writes reviews, but honestly just can't say enough good things about these guys. If you need any type of chimney or fireplace work, just call them and look no further."

"I didnt want to do this job myself because it was too high for me to work comfortably. <br /> But also, the City wanted it inspected for safety. <br /> The guy that did the inspection was very pleasant. But what got him the job was: <br /> 1) that he didnt trying to talk me into more repair than what was needed <br /> 2) educated me on the causes of the current issues <br /> 3) talked me OUT of repairs I thought might be needed, but were not. <br /> That, is a big deal. <br /> So with the inspection in hand, I felt I had found the correct company, to do the needed repairs. <br /> 5 days later a different guy returned to do the work and it was complete in just a couple hours. <br /> They rebuilt the triple crown, replaced the top pipe of one and then installed the stainless steel caps. <br /> One small issue is they should have cleaned up the debris that fell down the chimney. <br /> Several people have commented on how nice it looks and I say it looks much better than the majority of home around me. <br /> <br /> NOTE: Price is and quot;Band quot; because I did get other estimates to compare. "It went fine. In response to a question I asked, provider also gave us a written estimate for painting the chimney cap in the spring. Also based upon my question, he said he felt a cracked back panel did not need replacement at this time. He told us what to look for and provided a rough estimate to replace it if needed maybe a couple years from now."
