"We had an addition put onto our house last year. There were endless delays, the project took much longer than estimated, and the equipment brought in tore up the yard and driveway. When cutting into the house the wall to my daughters bedroom and the living room were punched through and suffered water damage, which they magnanimously painted the one wall to cover. The yard and driveway were never addressed because it “isn’t part of the contract”. Hence, the outlet pipe for the sump pump was simply run about ten feet straight out from the house, a foot above ground. Speaking of which, the sump pump is pretty much UNDER THE BEDROOM FLOOR. The final straw for me was when I requested plain ceramic light fixtures in the closet, and was given shoddy, overpriced plastic fixtures, with the excuse being that the ceramic ones weren’t available anywhere. I’m not going to say that I was lied to, but it took me all of a trip to Walmart to find them, and replace them myself. When I presented the contractor with the cheap lights, I got a guilt trip about how he was going to have to eat the cost of them. Pity. Shortly after construction, I had an unrelated plumbing problem and contacted the plumber we used, and Apex demanded a cut before I could get the work done. Said it’s how he keeps his guys “loyal”. I ended up paying an extra $80ish for precisely nothing. So here I am, some 14 months later and still finding little problems cropping up and fixing them at my expense as they do. I’m not happy, but based on previous interactions, I guess ‘happy’ just wasn’t covered in the contract. To be fair, the overall construction is satisfactory I suppose. It looks nice and doesn’t creak in the high wind that we get here. The roof and windows don’t leak and the floors are solid, but on the other hand the walls and floor are cold as **** in winter (work was completed in summer, so who knew), and the pipes and air ducts are poorly (see also: not) insulated, which I didn’t even think was a thing. Hence, the entire section is more or less an icebox after November. Apparently I didn’t know enough to protect myself in this situation. Hindsight being 20/20, I would not use this company again."

"Guillermo and Karina gave me a good price on their estimate to do all kinds of remodeling work for my 3 bedroom condo. Their team worked quickly and carefully. We had good communication as the job progressed. I’m very happy with the drywalling, painting, vinyl plank flooring and carpeting they installed. Also the did a great job re-coating the two bath tubs. I would recommend them to anyone."

"I rarely, if ever give 5 star reviews. But, I DO recommend Maynor Construction (MC)! But, 5 = perfection, and nothing is perfect : ) I hired MC for cement siding and sunroom addition project, beginning in June of 22, ending Sep, 22. I will review the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. But, this doesn't cover everything, because Home Advisor only allows so many characters. Finally, this was my first (major) home improvement project and likely the largest investment I will ever make in my home. The Good - Maynor (owner) is a very knowledgeable and a skilled builder, with many years of experience. I appreciated that he was actually on site many days, not only supervising, but also working along side his team. - The administrative staff was magnificent. Responsive, knowledgeable, friendly, and available. Having the right people in the front office can make or break a business. Hire the right people to manage the office and it will pay dividends toward the success of your company...in my humble opinion. - I had fiber cement siding installed on my home, and a sunroom that replaced an old, broken-down outdoor breezeway. This was no easy project and teams of highly-skilled workers were at my home daily, typically from before 8am until nearly sundown - and even partially on Saturdays. We were blessed with very little rain through the 3 months, which accelerated the work. Maynor's team worked very hard, moved efficiently, and maintained a great level of skill throughout the process. The Bad - For the most part, none of my utilities were affected all that much. Utility boxes were moved away at the beginning, were moved back at the end, and worked just fine. I also had a lot of electrical added and moved throughout the project, but alterations and small inconveniences were to be expected. However, there was a problem when it came to Maynor's (unintended) disruption of my ATT Fiber. While there was no cutting of that fiber, the siding was installed over the fiber and it shut down my internet. Maynor's workers claimed innocence, but it was clearly something for which they were likely responsible. The fiber cable box was moved back into place, and when I got home the internet wasn't working any longer. This required ATT to come out and reinstall the fiber cable and box that came into my house from the outside. - Kitchen flooring fix. I have a very small special strip of (tiled) kitchen flooring that had to be removed during the remodel because I wanted a small portion of a wall removed. Years ago, this strip was created with very cool, colored, (intentionally) broken glass tiles. But, sadly those tiles are no longer available. Happily, I found some of the original kitchen tile that Maynor could break-up into pieces and install into the strip. I approved a change order for Maynor to fill-in that strip of flooring, which required some pretty major cutting of the floor and sub floor. However, they cut the floor crooked and at an unpleasing angle. And, while it is not terrible, it is very noticeable to me and I wish Maynor had done a better to cut the area straighter. I can live with it, but someday I will need to replace the entire kitchen floor to maintain the professional look. The Ugly - While I live in a populated area, with restaurants, a gas station, hotels, etc... workers, laboring in extremely hot summer conditions, even with lots of shade, require lots of hydration. Those fluids need to go somewhere! Unfortunately, there were at least two instances (likely more), I personally witnessed workers finding their own ways to relieve themselves - not inside my home, nor at the gas station just next door. I complained to Maynor and they promptly brought in, at their expense, a Porta Potty, which would remain for the duration of the project. But, I had to ask them to include and only after I discovered what was happening on my property. Ove..."

"Sales and Installation: <br /> Their sales staff was professional and courteous.  The installation went well and on schedule.  The group that installed the patio were very polite, respectful of our home, and were true professionals.  I have nothing bad to say about the quality of our room and how happy we are with our purchase.  We love our enclosed patio. <br /> Service:  <br /> Approximately 6 months ago, the lock on our sliding glass door stopped functioning and we were unable to lock this door.  Long story short, I have been calling for service now for 6 months and no service person has called me back.  The part that is most bothersome is that everytime I call for service I actually talk to a real person in the Fisher's office, so it's not like I'm leaving messages on a voicemail that no one checks.  I called several times in 2014 with no call back.  I was so bothered by this that I actually stopped by their showroom in Fishers in December of 2014 and spoke to someone.  I was told that they would call in two weeks.  No call.  I then called some time in early February of 2015 and was told again it would be two weeks.  No call again.  Today is 27th of March and I called once more for service and was told that someone would call me back.  Needless to say I'm not expecting a phone call back. <br /> In conclusion, I have nothing but praise for our room and how much enjoyment we've gotten out of it.  I'm just a little confused as to why they are so reluctant to fix a simple lock on a sliding door?  My concern is that if someone is going to be ignored for a little problem like this, what if someone has a big problem (structurally) they they need this company to address?  I hired this company based on Angie's List reviews, along with their (perceived) professionalism and warranty of work.  I have held off writing a review since this seems like such a small issue, but I feel that I've been more than patient.  I just want the lock fixed. <br /> <br /> Update 04-Apr-2015: The service person arrived today and replaced the lock.  The whole thing took about 10 minutes.  Service person gave me his card and said from now on, call him directly.  <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Todd and Rod Pickett the owners of Affordable Windows were excellent to work with.  Our home was one of their larger projects this year with over 31 windows being installed plus a new patio door.  This project was the largest effort we've undertaken on our home costing over $14,000.  <br /> Choosing which windows to purchase is a daunting endeavor with so many on the market to choose from. After evaluating our needs and requirements Todd recommended a company out of Chicago called Lang Exteriors.  We were not familiar with the company but Todd has used their product for years and recommended them highly.  After conducting some online research we discovered they were a 60 year old company and one of the largest windows manufacture in the mid-west.  We instructed Todd to order the windows and let?s do it. <br /> Approximately 30 days later Todd and crew began the job.  It took them over a week to complete all the installations.  During <br /> that entire time they were very respectful of our home, our property and our landscaping.  But more importantly the quality of the windows and installation was superior.  The difference these windows have made in our home has made the investment well worth it.  <br /> We live near a busy road and the noise reduction we estimate is around 40-50% and air infiltration is nil. <br /> The only issue we encountered with the windows was a crooked grill in the patio door.  My wife noticed it the day it was installed but well after the crew had left for the day.  I immediately typed an email to Todd informing him of our issue.  To our surprise Todd was back at our home an hour-and-half later taking pictures of the window to share with the manufacture the very next day. Todd requested an entire new door not just the glass insert.  As of this writing the door has yet to be replaced but I have every confidence it will be addressed.  <br /> We were so impressed with the crew and quality of work we also requested a quote to replace several bad trim boards around our home.  We decided to pass for now as the cost was too much for budget. <br />   <br /> All-and-all a great experience and we highly recommend Affordable Windows to anyone considering windows or any other remodeling project. <br />"

"The estimated time given from purchase to installation was several weeks off (it did say “estimated” on contract). Given the supply and labor issues everyone is facing, I can understand. It was just disappointing. I wish they would have said 10-16 weeks instead of 8-10 then my expectations wouldn’t have been so high. They replaced my blinds no problem and my patio screens are great. The installers were very professional and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them, just don’t be in a rush."

"Great experience working with the Nathan Alan crew! Nate met with my wife and me to discuss cabinet materials and layout. We wanted a contemporary look and finish. Nate listened attentively to our needs and was able to provide the options and layout we were looking for in a quality product. Ward, the Project Coordinator, kept the project on-track and on-time. Lee, the Installer, was a pleasure to work with and an expert in his skill. I highly recommend! <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in North Salem, IN

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
