"After being told by an Avon Lake plumbing company that the only way to repair the tub diverter was to totally replace the entire tub and tile...I reached out to Wyatt who completed the repair/replacement without removing tile or replacing the tub. Kudos to Wyatt for being straight-shooters! Billy, our plumber was timely and gave a thorough explanation of the issue and how to resolve it. Everyone can now take a normal shower without all the hot water pouring out of the tub faucet."

"In the midst of the heat wave in the summer of 2011, we call Anderson for service on our heat pump. Tech #1 comes out runs the basic diagnostics and pronounces everything fine. Still the house is not cooling like it should be. We call back and tech #2 (Nick) comes out. Nick runs some diagnostics and suspects the compressor may be bad, although he can't be certain as the compressor has shut down due to thermal overload.

I asked Nick for his recommendation and he suggests replacing the heat pump and fan coil due to age of the pump (12 years). How much I ask. Approximately six to eight thousand dollars is the reply. Ouch! My answer is replace the compressor for $1800.

Next day, Roy Anderson calls to start the "scare sell" - pushing the new pump. You only get 1 year warranty on the compressor; your system is old, you get the picture. I hold my ground and insist they replace the compressor. Nick comes back with the new compressor. But before he installs it he runs one more test. Voila! The compressor is not bad after all. The problem is a much cheaper part. New part goes in - system is running fine.

Their scheduling is terrible. They will not give you an approximate date/time unless they have the part in hand. They must not understand you have to tell your boss you need time off to be home for the repair. Had I not pushed for even a tentative date for a service call, I would have been three weeks without A/C. I understand the POTENTIAL that the part may not be in and they may not be able to keep the appt. Just give me something I can tell my boss to get time off! Finally, you never get to speak to Roy, unless of course he wants to sell you a new system.

Now this whole saga took 2 weeks. It could have been done in a week or less if they were not so eager to push a complete new system and to confirm the exact problem. Thanks to Nick for running that one extra check. He did a great job! Boo to Roy for pushing the unnecessary pump and the scare sell. "

"Chris and his assistant did an excellent job of explaining the situation and options for repairing or replacing our hot water heater. In the end we chose to replace it and they were able to secure a new unit and install it within 3 hours. Would definitely recommend Chris and Tri-County Services and will use them again if another situation arises."

"North Lake repaired and replaced multiple water pipe issues for us, and installed a new water heater. Our kitchen drain line and sump pump lines were old and needed replaced. The North Lake crew was friendly, efficient, and well priced. They even explained all they did, how to maintain it, and helped me with a few other questions I had while they were there. 10/10 will call them again."

FAQs for water main install, replace or repair projects in Northfield, OH

If you notice puddles or standing water in your yard, a sudden drop in water pressure, cracks forming in your foundation, frequent clogs in your plumbing fixtures, or water that looks or smells unusual, you might have a leak in your main water line. These signs mean it's time to call a professional to evaluate the issue and prevent further damage.

A professional water main inspection is a comprehensive evaluation performed by a licensed plumber who checks every section of your plumbing system. The inspection costs $165 and uses advanced diagnostic techniques to identify hidden leaks or wear. This service clarifies the exact condition of your water main, enabling precise repairs that prevent future damage and ensure the overall health of your plumbing system.

Protect your water main by scheduling a cleaning and inspection every two to five years. The average cost of a sewer line cleaning is $400. It’s also important to never dig in your yard without first calling the dig line (811) to ensure you don't accidentally hit the water or sewer lines. Watch for soil erosion, low water pressure, or wet spots in your yard, and take immediate action if you suspect a leak. Remember, the longer you leave it, the worse the problem gets and the more costly it is to fix.

When properly maintained, your water main is engineered to remain functional for 50 years or longer. A durable water service in excellent condition should consistently perform without major issues for half a century. In contrast, metal pipes exposed to acidic soil corrode faster, whereas modern plastic pipes resist corrosion and function for decades beyond metal alternatives. Regular maintenance and inspections are essential for confirming your system’s longevity.

No, homeowners insurance does not cover the cost to repair a water main. Insurers fund only sudden, unforeseen events like a burst pipe and exclude gradual issues or normal wear and tear. Damage resulting from leaks, such as mold remediation or property claims, is not covered. It is essential to contact your insurance provider immediately to confirm your policy’s details and any potential adjustments needed.
