Their crew did an excellent job even working through unknown plumbing problems that were encountered. They even replaced a couple of lights for LED and added a cabinet to my kitchen."

"We interviewed many contractors for this job. In the end, it boiled down to the good rapport with Nathan. On the plus side, his work is beautiful and his workers always showed up as promised. He never quibbled about some concerns we had throughout. But, we were up sold some work, (which we likely needed anyway) but were under the gun to make a decision and had to haggle under those conditions. Also, he sometimes requires multiple messages to get a response. Overall, very, very pleased with results and recommend to anyone."

"I could not be happier with Universal Home Design, and the job they did on my bathroom and kitchen remodel. I started looking for contractors when the smaller of the two baths in my home became unusable due to plumbing issues with the original steel pipes in my home, which was built in 1948. I did not have a big budget, but I was hoping to be able to address my kitchen as well as the bath. While my kitchen was functional, it was very worn down. My wife and I decided to hire Universal Home Design because although I collected bids from both large and small companies, only Universal Home Design sent the owner of the company, Ouriel Lousky, to discuss the bid. Ouriel communicated a genuine commitment to work with us to get us through the job, at a budget that we were comfortable with, without sacrificing quality. From start to finish, Ouriel always communicated that our satisfaction was a priority to him and the company. To that end, he threw in, at no extra cost, a lot of extras and upgrades that were beyond the scope of his contractual obligation. When remodeling in an old house such as mine, extra work is likely to come up. In my case, we discovered that I would be best situated by re-piping all the plumbing in my house. Also, the City required that my main electrical service panel be moved from one side of the house to the other. Oury gave me a very fair price on this work that can't imagine covered much more than his costs. With respect to the crews, the job was always adequately manned, and the workers were very respectful and neat. They cleaned up at the end of every day, they protected all my surrounding finishes, floors, etc., and were even spotted on several occasions cleaning the floor well beyond the work area at the end of the day. Debris was always removed in a timely manner, and the workmanship is top notch. Despite the re-piping and major extra electrical work, the job was completed within the original schedule, and within the budget agreed upon. There were no surprises, except for how beautifully everything came out! My whole family is still getting used to having such a beautiful kitchen, and new bathroom. I am looking forward to having my extended family over for our annual Thanksgiving get together, which I always host. Much thanks to Ouriel and his crews. Again, we could not be happier, and we recommend Universal Home Design without any reservation."

We hired Platinum Home Builders to complete a difficult project that included moving and relocating a 100-year-old Douglas home, pouring a new foundation, and installing a new floor plan and a completely developed basement. "Our initial meeting with Suj was great. Initially, we had in mind a much larger job. He had quoted us $3000 for the closet demolition / wall rebuild (non-load bearing), packaged with several other items. Together with the fee for drawings ($4000) and permits, this was a bit higher than we anticipated. However, we decided to go with Suj due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Out of our other quotes, Suj’s pricing was middle of the pack - not the cheapest or most expensive. When the drawings were complete and evaluated, he gave us an updated cost of $6000 over text message. The scope of work had changed, and this was no longer part of a bigger project - understandable. The issue was when he gave us the official estimate a week later and up’d the price once again to $9000. When asked what happened, his exact words were “well, I need to get paid too”. He had weeks to consider before quoting the $6000 and nothing had changed since then. The extra $3000 may be insignificant compared to most renovation costs, but for us in our first home, this was back breaking. We continued with Suj since we were already locked in and well past the 3 day cancellation period. Their work for the most part was exceptional. The new wall blended perfectly into our existing structure, and the ceiling patch was also well done. The problem here was the floor. They had dug up a 1” deep pit in the floor, likely to remove the wall studs. However, they did not patch the floor or even let us know this was going to be an issue. We were never told about the pit until I decided to check in on their progress one day towards the end of the wall build. This required us to pay a handyman to come in next day on a weekend to patch the concrete since we had cabinets being installed the following Tuesday. Suj was aware of this and did not believe it pertinent information. Overall, Suj and SoCal Builders do quality work, but the issues in pricing consistency lost us before the work even started. Not even telling us that we’d be left with a 1” deep pit in our floor after was another huge issue which should’ve been brought up much earlier. This was our first experience with a contractor and I’m not sure if this is typical or not. However, it’s enough to make me doubt I’d contact them for any future work."

"I couldn’t be happier with Amir, I am glad that I found him. I’ve been dealing with many contractors and they all have been unprofessional, dirty, and they slowly neglect the job to work elsewhere, leaving mine incomplete. I’ve had to be on top of them just to get the work done, they would usually show up when it was time to get paid. I had lost faith with all contractors, that is until I found Amir. He is the opposite of what I’ve dealt with, professional, to the point, honest and works cleanly. He recently paved a four garage driveway. He got the job done so quick, that my head still spinning, not only that, when I showed him the respective area, he took the measurements, got on his phone to run some numbers, and made an impromptu quote. We picked the dates and the job got done. No B.S. no chasing after Amir. DONE!!. He is currently working on a historical home for me. I will come back and add additional details about my experience with Amir once the whole job is completed, but, as of right now, I am extremely happy. The work is getting done, and quickly. The foundation work started with in a couple of days after we signed the contract. If this was a different contractor, I can positively say that I would still be waiting for the work to begin. If you want to have a horrible experience, do not hire Amir, because you will only have a good, professional experience. Amazing work Amir."

"This is my first time working with a contractor and didn’t know what to expect. Overall, I am happy with the work and the team became more like family. I wasn’t happy all the time, and it took longer than expected, but when I expressed it, Gino was quick to make the changes happen even being hands on some of the time. I don’t know what else are out there, since they are my first and only remodel team, but I’m thankful I choose this company to remodel my entire - now beautiful - home."
