"Went great. They kept in touch so that I would know exactly when he would be there to do the work. All the work requested was completed and branches were put in a paper yard bag I provided and left at the street for the chipper service.  Very professional and easy to work with.

"I choose Landscape Creation company because of the good reviews. Jason and I have been talking about this project since second part of 2012, by the end of August 2013 we finally started the project. Due to the steep slop, the removal of the old railroad ties took longer then we expected. The stone path started from the first batch of stone delivered, the work went well but slow. His crews need to move each stone manually down hill about 150 feet to start. The project was delayed for three weeks (9/20 to 10/10), Jason's crews did not show up and I was calling and text Jason from time to time.He had problem with the stone vender with batch delivery also it had been raining a lot.  By Oct 17, the stone path was done, Jason's crew was able to replace two of the stones that I pointed out too small in size . As planed, on the side of the path, he also did a flat seating area.
Jason and his crews created a stone fire pit with five huge stone seat, and that looks real nice. He also build a stone bridge which lead to the fire pit over the ditch with details.
The whole project finished by the end of October. It took much longer then was scheduled, due to the weather, the stone vender and his personal issues, but over all, I am happy with the work been done consider that this was not an easy project.

"After a very heavy storm, our gravel driveway was a washout mess!!  I contacted "Two Men and a Tractor" (Jerry and Tim), who promptly came by and assessed what was causing the damage. They also offered solutions in which to PREVENT future destruction of our yard and driveway. WOW!  They gave me a fair estimate and showed up on the time agreed upon to start the project.  Jerry ordered the materials needed and Tim the tractor operator worked tirelessly and completed the job to our satisfaction. I would hire this team again without reservations for other major projects.  These gentlemen are professional, courteous, honest and will do what they say they will do while completing your  project in a satisfactory time frame. This company also does lawn beautification, maintenance and landscape. Thanks guys for doing an excellent job!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Old Hickory, TN

Most shed foundations benefit from a gravel layer four to six inches deep after proper compaction. The exact depth may vary depending on your specific soil conditions, climate, and shed weight. In areas with poor drainage or for heavier structures, contractors might recommend slightly deeper installations. Building the pad in multiple compacted layers rather than a single thick pour helps achieve optimal stability and load distribution.

Gravel pads cost significantly less than concrete foundations. While gravel materials run about $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, concrete slabs average $6 per square foot. For a standard shed base, this price difference translates to substantial savings. Beyond the initial cost advantage, gravel pads also offer easier installation, simpler modifications if needed, and don't require specialized concrete finishing skills.

For a standard 10-by-12 shed pad, you'll need enough gravel to cover 120 square feet at the recommended depth. At rates of $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, expect to spend $150 to $216 on gravel materials alone. Remember to factor in extending the pad beyond the shed's dimensions by one to two feet on each side for better drainage and stability, which increases the actual area needed.

The ideal gravel for shed foundations combines stability with proper drainage capabilities. Crusher run ($0.40 per square foot) makes an excellent base layer because it contains various particle sizes that lock together when compacted. For top layers, angular gravel provides better drainage while maintaining stability. Avoid perfectly round decorative stones as they don't compact effectively and may shift under weight, compromising your shed's stability over time.
