Rather than paving over the roots (we wouldn't have known), they did the job the correct way and removed the roots. They obviously care about doing quality work. "In my 64 years on this planet, I have overlooked the building of two homes from the ground up, three complete renovations of 1920s era apartments in Chicago, and now renovations of 1880s buildings in Chicago. We felt like they were never to busy for us."
