"Generally, everything went very well -- quotes, communication, etc. The only snag was despite our clearly stating beforehand repeatedly that the replaced trim had to be the color indicated by our HOA, the installers ended up doing it in white so part of one of the dormer was white while the other was the original color. Then the person leading the installation team had the nerve to say we just had to paint it. I followed up with Thompson Creek customer service who had them come out later again to fix it so all ended up fine."

"Eugene Sibley returned my call the same day and came to my home for an estimate the following day.  Work began the following week.  Eugene and his crew repaired the badly damaged drywall and doors in a bedroom. After they painted, it looked like a new room.  I couldn't remember where the large holes had been.  The bathrooms had peeling linoleum floors, a leaky toilet and needed new vanities.  They tiled the floors, replaced the toilet and vanities, and painted.  Light fixtures were changed, new faucets installed, towel racks and light switches replaced, walls and ceiling painted.  Both rooms are beautiful!  I couldn't be happier with the way it all turned out. <br /> I am very pleased with the quality of the work.  The tile looks so good!  Nice clean lines between painted walls and trim.  The areas were always cleaned and vacuumed before painting started and before grouting the tile.  They spread drop cloths so they weren't tracking anything on my carpets.  The work areas were vacuumed and things put away neatly at the end of each day.  Eugene was very easy to work with, and his crew was very respectful toward my family and my home.  Eugene did a lot of the actual work himself, but he called and stopped by everyday to make sure we were happy with the work.  <br /> I would definitely hire Stowe Contracting again. In fact, we have already tentatively schedule another project with Eugene before the end of this year.   <br /> <br />"

"Even though we did not ultimately choose American Custom Contractors (ACC) to perform an extensive and unusual remodeling project, I was so impressed with them during our lengthy and complex bid process that I felt it may be helpful to others considering this firm.    <br />   <br /> Our project involved putting on a new cedar shingle roof, new cedar siding, Hardie trim throughout, 19 new windows and new gutters on a Dutch colonial timber frame house. Total project cost was about $85k.  <br />   <br /> We interviewed many different contractors and in the end it came down to ACC and one other. No other firms were in their league. While cedar roofs are common, cedar siding is rare yet we had full confidence that ACC could perform the work and employ the necessary best practices during installation.  For me, that speaks to their range of competence in the full spectrum of remodeling.  In the end, deciding between the two firms was almost a 50/50 proposition ? just short of a coin toss - and honestly we would have been just as comfortable using this firm.  I liked ACC so much I even considered splitting the work between the two companies but was advised against doing that by several contractor friends. <br />   <br /> We had the pleasure of working with Stephen Meade at ACC.  He is the consummate professional and navigated us through our seemingly endless options.  More importantly, Stephen is a true gentleman blessed with a remarkable degree of patience. While we wavered between wood and style choices and worried about each decision, Stephen remained unflustered, always helpful and always available.  He was honest about what he didn?t know and diligent in acquiring the necessary information.  In fact, halfway through the process, Stephen sent my wife and I a nice note saying how much he was learning about cedar and I could tell he had a genuine, curious attachment to our project that very obviously exceeded that which was required to simply ?get the order.?     <br />   <br /> In hindsight, the early stage of reviewing contractors is the most stressful part of a home remodel project.  To that extent, Stephen was the right consultant?providing us guidance and lots of room and time to maneuver and explore all our options.  If you?re doing a major project, shop your options as you see fit, but do yourself a favor and get this guy in the mix.  I can only attest to my satisfaction in the early phase since ACC did not ultimately do the work, but if our experience with Stephen was any indication the entire project would have well exceeded our expectations. <br />"
